Striver and Woelfling hit NCAA provisional marks in season opener

MILLERSVILLE, Pa. - The Millersville University track and field team opened its outdoor season at home with the Millersville Little Meet on Saturday. The team's throwers started the season with a bang as Aliyah Striver hit NCAA provisional qualifying marks in both the discus and hammer throw, and Hannah Woelfling did the same in the hammer.
Striver won the discus with a toss of 151-7 while Woelfling, competing in an outdoor meet for the first time as a Marauder, placed second in the event with a toss of 140-10. The duo went 1-2 in the hammer as well, with Striver hitting 180-8 and Woelfling hitting 179-8. Striver hit personal-best marks in both events.
Millersville's throwers took the top five spots in the javelin. Kaitlin Moyer led the way with a toss of 118-8 while Kandice Liebl hit 117-0 in her first collegiate event. Moyer's mark set a new PR by more than 15 feet. Moyer had a busy day as she was the runner-up in the 100-meter hurdles, running a 16.22, and she also placed first in the long jump with a leap of 16-4 ¾.
On the track, it was an impressive first meet for Aurora Conrad, who won both the 100- and 200-meter dashes. She won the 100 with a time of 12.69. Millersville took the seven of the top 10 spots in the 100-meer dash, and all of the times were among the eight fastest times in the PSAC this season. It was the first career outdoor run for six of the athletes. Finishing behind Conrad was Amanda Bruno, who posted a 12.97. Gabriela Karch placed third in the 200 with a time of 26.67.
Millersville's Morgan Janiuk (5:15.05), Yoangelys Rijo-Cedeno (5:25.33) and Brianna Brennan (5:28.63) swept the top three spots in the 1,500-meter run. It was Brennan's first career outdoor 1,500 and the first outdoor meet of Janiuk's career.
Jillian Miller and Abbey Sullivan finished second and third in the 400-meter run, running times of 1:04.14 and 1:05.38 respectively. It was Sullivan's first career outdoor meet and Miller's first career outdoor 400. Skylar Maurer was the runner-up in the 800-meter run, clocking in at 2:37.82.
A week removed from the PSAC Cross Country Championships, Alexa Happ ran a 22:19.54 for the top spot in the 5,000-meter run.
Millersville's 4x100-meter relay team topped Goldey-Beacom by more than four seconds, posting a time of 49.90. Millersville also ran three 4x400-meter relays and finished in the top three spots.
In the pole vault, Devon Erb posted a personal-best 9-10 in the pole vault. Caitlin Miller matched that mark.
