Marauders look for a victory at home against East Stroudsburg

ABOUT THE GAME 

  • The Marauders return home to Chryst Field at Biemesderfer Stadium on Wednesday, March 17 at 4 p.m. to take on East Stroudsburg. The team will also take some time to recognize its six seniors prior to the start of the game. 
  • The Warriors lead in the series against the Marauders 10-4, with Millersville losing the last four games between the two teams. 
  • Of the Marauders four victories, three were on their home turf. 
  • Millersville takes the field following a 15-11 victory over PSAC rival Shippensburg on the road on Saturday, March 13. 
  • Grace Cobaugh led the scoring effort for the Marauders in the game totaling four goals and one assist. 
  • Goalkeeper Kaleigh Sasdelli protected the net for Millersville the entire game and recorded six saves. 
  • Charlotte Lasak and Cobaugh lead the overall scoring efforts for the Marauders this season totaling five goals apiece over two games. 

 

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT

  • The Warriors are currently 2-0 and 1-0 in conference play. 
  • East Stroudsburg ranks 11th in the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association poll and first in the PSAC East. 
  • The Warriors held their most recent opponent, Bloomsburg, to just five goals while ESU totaled 14 of its own. 
  • Bailey McMaster leads the offense for East Stroudsburg totaling team highs in goals (7), shots (11), and shots on goal (10). 
  • Tatyana Petteway has started both games in net for the Warriors and has totaled 21 saves with 15 of those saves coming in the contest against Bloomsburg.

ABOUT THE SENIORS 

  • MaryCait Dorley is a three-year starter for the Marauders and has appeared in a total of 42 games. The sports medicine major from Glenside, Pennsylvania was named PSAC Scholar-Athlete in 2018, 2019, and 2020. During her freshman season she scored three goals, made two assists, scooped up 15 ground balls, captured 10 draw controls, and forced six turnovers. During her sophomore season she totaled 12 goals off 24 shots and totaled five assists for a season total of 17 points. Prior to the cancelation of the 2020 season, the then-junior scored two goals, won four draw controls, caused four turnovers, and scooped up a total of six ground balls.
  • Sara Burney is a four-year starter for the Marauders and has appeared in a total of 44 games. The fifth-year senior from Yardley, Pennsylvania is a pre-athletic training biology major. Burney made an instant impact during her sophomore season recording 13 goals, 22 assists, and 35 points. At the end of her junior season, she finished seventh in the PSAC in assists per game (1.4) and recorded a team-high 26 assists, tied for sixth-most in program history. Prior to the cancelation of the 2020 season, the then-senior scored at least two goals on three occasions and ranked second on the team in ground balls (11), third in goals (9), point (13), shots (19), and shots on goal.
  • Michella Salvitti is a four-year starter for the Marauders and has appeared in a total of 41 games. The graduate student from New Freedom, Pennsylvania is a biology major. During her sophomore season she collected a total of 23 ground balls and forced eight turnovers. She upped that during her junior season recording 32 ground balls and 13 turnovers. Prior to the cancelation of the 2020 season, Salvitti had scooped up five ground balls and forced five turnovers.
  • Genevieve Speights is a three-year starter for the Marauders and has appeared in a total of 42 games. A native of Shrewsbury, Pennsylvania, Speights is majoring in sports business. Following her sophomore season she was named IWLCA Division II All-Region Second Team and All-PSAC Second Team. As a freshman, she competed in all games for the Marauders scoring 26 goals, including two or more in eight games. In her sophomore season, Speights led the team in points (48), draw controls (59), and finished second in goals (37). She totaled four game-winning goals that season, and scored four goals on four occasions, and at least three goals on seven occasions. Prior to the cancelation of the 2020 season, Speights recorded two game-winning goals, and totaled 13 draw controls in a single game.
  • Gillian Zimmerman is a three-year starter for the Marauders and has appeared in 41 games. The New Park, Pennsylvania native is majoring in criminology and sociology. During her freshman season she had two or more goals four times and totaled 14 goals and four assists overall. During her sophomore season she led the team in goals with 40 and shots with 99. Speights also tallied at least three goals on eight occasions. Prior to the cancelation of the 2020 season, she ranked first in points (19), shots (33), second in goals (13), assists (6), and shots on goal (26). She scored two goals off two free position shots and secured the game-winning goal in the same contest.
  • Calie Swegon is a three-year starter for the Marauders. The Stewartstown, Pennsylvania native and sports medicine major was named a PSAC Scholar-Athlete in 2019. During her first season as a Marauder, she totaled 12 goals and 12 assists. Swegon also tallied five ground browns and caused one turnover. Prior to the cancelation of the 2020 season, Swegon ranked first in assists with eight. She scored a single goal off one free position shot.
