Millersville falls to East Stroudsburg

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – Millersville women's lacrosse got out to an early 2-0 lead, but East Stroudsburg pulled ahead defeating the Marauders 18-6.
 
Millersville falls to 2-2 on the season and 0-1 in PSAC play. East Stroudsburg improves to 4-0 overall and 1-0 in conference play.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
Grace Cobaugh put the Marauders on the board just 18 seconds in to the game with an unassisted goal. Just over seven minutes later she set up Emily Jacobsen for Millersville's second goal to lead 2-0. East Stroudsburg put up only one goal before Sarah Leverentz made it a 3-1 game with just over 16 minutes remaining. The Warriors tacked on six more goals to lead 7-3 at the end of the first half.
• East Stroudsburg went on a 4-0 run to lead by eight to start the second half of play. Hayden Corcoran broke up the run with the Marauders' fourth goal, assisted by Calie Swegon. The Warriors went on to score six more times over next 14 minutes to lead 17-4. Sarah Leverentz rattled off a goal with nine minutes left followed by a Cobaugh free position goal at the 6:18 mark to make it a 17-6 game. East Stroudsburg added one more goal with just under a minute left in play.
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
Grace Cobaugh led in points with four off two goals and two assists. Sarah Leverentz also added two goals for the Marauders on a team-high four shots.
Hayden Corcoran and Emily Jacobsen added one goal apiece.
• Leverentz collected the most ground balls scooping up five total. She also led the team in draw controls with five.
• Tayiana Goldsborough forced a team-high three turnovers while Jasa Lorah, Gillian Zimmerman and Michella Salvitti forced two each.
Kelly Layton and Kaleigh Sasdelli shared time in the net. Layton totaled five saves off 21 shots faced while Sasdelli totaled four saves off seven shots faced.

• Millersville held the advantage in draw controls (15-10).
• Both the Marauders and the Warriors cleared the ball 17 times.
• East Stroudsburg held the advantage in shots (28-13), ground balls (21-16), free position shots (9-1) and caused turnovers (16-12).
• Millersville is now 4-12 in the all-time series against East Stroudsburg. The Warriors hold a five-game win streak over the Marauders.
