Men's soccer set to host Bloomsburg on Senior Day

ABOUT THE GAME

  • Men's soccer is set to host Bloomsburg on Saturday, Nov. 6 at 2 p.m. in their Senior Day match. Head Coach Steve Widdowson and the Marauders will look to earn their ninth win in a row over Bloomsburg. The game would've had playoff significance if the Huskies were able to knock off the No. 2 team in the conference, West Chester on the road Wednesday night. However, the Huskies fell short of victory which paved the way for Millersville to clinch their sixth straight postseason berth. 
  • Millersville is coming off a road victory at East Stroudsburg in which Matt Lynch scored two goals to aid the Marauders in a win. Anthony Calamia and Spencer Shortt each recorded an assist in the match. 
  • Bloomsburg is coming off a 2-1 loss to the No. 2 team in the conference, West Chester. The Huskies led by one most of the match, but two converted PKs for West Chester ended up winning them the match. 
  • 'Ville will be recognizing their seniors 30 minutes before kick off. The game will also feature the 2011 NCAA Semifinal team, as they will get recognized for the 10-year anniversary of their run at half time. 

SCOUTING THE MARAUDERS

  • The Marauders have outplayed most of their opponents this far into the season. Holding an edge in goals (29-17), shots (252-111), shots on frame (118-50), and corner kicks (106-67).
  • Spencer Shortt has continued to show how important he is to the team, leading the group in goals (6), assists (9), and points (21). 
  • Anthony Calamia has also been a key part of the Marauder attack, scoring four goals of his own and tacking on four assists. The redshirt junior has also fired in 46 shots on the season, 20 of which landed on goal.
  • Bob Hennessey and Matt Lynch have also been solid for the Marauders as of late. Hennessey has scored four goals on the season, while Lynch has three. 
  • Bobby Bosch has taken over keeper duties and has only given up one goal in his last three starts. The netminder made six huge saves in the Marauders' postseason clinching victory over East Stroudsburg.

SCOUTING THE HUSKIES

  • Bloomsburg has been outscored by their opponents this year 28-31, but has out shot them 187-166. The Huskies do usually hold an edge in corner opportunities at 100-76 on the year.
  • Alex Wilsterman leads the Huskies offensive attack with five goals and three assists. Anthony Schlee and Liam Harmon are just behind him with four goals each. Midfielder Olly Whitham currently leads the team in assists, dishing out eight on the season.
  • Nathan Slotnick has made the most starts in goal for Bloomsburg this season. The keeper has given up a goal in all but two of his 13 starts. 

THE LAST TIME OUT

  • Millersville: Millersville 2, East Stroudsburg 0- Matt Lynch scored to goals in the Marauder victory. 
  •  Bloomsburg: Bloomsburg 1, West Chester 2-Bloomsburg was unable to take down the No. 2 team in the conference, falling 2-1.
