Marauders fall to Towson in exhibition game

TOWSON, Md. – The Millersville women's basketball team fell to Towson tonight in an exhibition game.  

The Tigers proved to be too much for the Marauders early, taking a 20-6 lead in the first quarter of play, and extending the lead to 45-21 at the half. They would continue the strong play in the second leading to an eventual 95-46 victory.

Freshman, Makiah Shaw, who has been a bright spot this year for the rebuilding Marauders, was able to score a team-high 11 points off 3-5 shooting from the field. The forward also cashed in on all of her free throw attempts, going 4-4 on the night. Another freshman, Bria Beverly, scored six points and also was perfect from the line throughout the night, shooting 6-6.

• On competing with a Division I program: "Competing against D1 team was a great experience for our team. We showed heart and toughness while playing today."

• On what the team can take away from tonight: "We will learn from our mistakes and continue to grow as a team. With our next game being another D1 team , we hope to build off the way we played today and continue to play hard"


INSIDE THE BOX SCORE 
• Shaw led the team in scoring with 11, while Beverly was behind her with six.
Mia Leonard grabbed a team-high seven rebounds on the night. 
Ty Taylor was able to record one steal to add to her team lead. 

UP NEXT
•The Marauders will head to Princess Anne, Md. to take on another Division I program in Maryland Eastern Shore on Sunday, Nov. 28 at 2 p.m.

•The group will open Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East play in the new year, as Shepherd will visit for a game on Jan. 5, 2022.
