INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Just over 24 hours after winning their third consecutive Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Tournament, the Marauders found out they would host an NCAA Tournament Second Round game at Pucillo Field. Millersville was selected as the No. 4 seed in the first super region and is set to take on none other than No. 5 seed Gannon, who the Marauders beat in the PSAC Final on Sunday, Nov. 14. The match will be on Saturday, Nov. 20 at Pucillo Field in Millersville, Pa.
The game marks the eighth time the Marauders have qualified for the NCAA tournament, all under head coach Steve Widdowson. The farthest tournament run the Marauders have seen was the 2011 team advancing to the NCAA Semifinals, this was also the last time they hosted a tournament game.
Gannon makes its 11th appearance in the NCAA Division II Men's Soccer Tournament, most recently during the 2019 season, in which the Golden Knights shut out Assumption College by a score of 5-0 in the second round, but were eventually taken down by Charleston (WV) in the third round.
Millersville ended the regular season ranked No. 10 in super region 1. The Marauders defeated the No. 7 team in the region, West Chester, in the quarterfinals of the PSAC Tournament. They then took down the No. 11 team, Mercyhurst, in the semifinals, followed by a win over the No. 5 team in the PSAC Final, Gannon. The Marauders have faced off with two other teams in their region this season in No. 8 seed Lock Haven and No. 3 seed Wilmington (DE).
Other teams in the Marauders' corner of the bracket include, No. 1 Franklin Pierce, No. 2 Charleston (WV), No. 6 Davis & Elkins, No. 7 American Int'l, No. 9 Post, and No. 10 Molloy.
The winner of Millersville / Gannon advances to play the winner of Franklin Pierce / and the winner of Thursday's first round game between Lock Haven and Post.
