ABOUT THE GAME
- Women's soccer faces off with East Stroudsburg (ESU) Wednesday night for the first time since the 2019 NCAA Tournament when the Marauders defeated the Warriors 3-1 in the first round. Lauren Downey and Kylie Sullivan both recorded a goal in that postseason match and will figure to be a large part of head coach Matt Procopio's game plan this Wednesday as well.
- Both of these teams are currently sitting right outside of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) tournament at five (ESU) and six (Millersville) in the PSAC East standings. The Marauders will look to get a home win and move up in the standings before going on a three-game road trip to play Bloomsburg, Lock Haven, and Shippensburg.
- Millersville (2-3-3, 2-3-2 PSAC East) is coming off of a 2-2 draw at home against Shepherd. The Marauders dominated the Rams in virtually every offensive category but were unable to come up with the win. They'll look to continue that attack on Wednesday under the lights.
- East Stroudsburg (4-3-1, 3-3-1 PSAC East) is coming off a two win week with victories over Shippensburg and Lock Haven.
SCOUTING THE MARAUDERS
- Millersville has had a tough conference schedule this far in, with all of their losses coming to the top two teams in the PSAC East. (No. 3 Kutztown and West Chester)
- The team has scored eight goals, eight games into the 2021 season. Morgan Winchock leads the group with three, followed by Rachel Leisher with two. Palina Jordan, Savannah Rennix, and Lauren Downey each have two assists for the Marauders.
- Winchock ranks fourth in the PSAC in shots with 31 on the season, and ninth in shots on goal with 15.
- Reagan Kolinski has recorded 37 total saves on the season, while allowing 10 goals. The Junior ranks top-10 in the PSAC in both shutouts per game (.250) and saves per game (4.63).
SCOUTING THE WARRIORS
- Three of the four games ESU has won this season have come in their last four contests, the other coming in their first match against Felician.
- Haley Skove has gotten hot recently, leading the Warriors in their two wins last week with a goal in each match. Those two scores were good enough for the midfielder to be named PSAC East Athlete of the Week. Skove leads the team in goals with four thus far.
- Mauri Jackson has started all eight games in goal for the Warriors, posting four wins, 47 saves, 1.05 goal-against average, with just nine goals against on the season.
THE LAST TIME OUT
- Millersville: Millersville 2, Shepherd 2- The Marauders ended the match in a 2-2 draw with Shepherd.
- ESU: ESU 1, Lock Haven 0 - The Warriors defeated Lock Haven on the road, 1-0.
SERIES HISTORY
- ESU currently holds a 8-28-1 all-time lead over the Marauders.
