Millersville set to face off with Shepherd on Saturday

ABOUT THE GAME

  • Millersville will look to get back to .500 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East on Saturday when they host the Shepherd Rams. The game set to begin at 2 p.m. at Pucillo Field. 
  • Millersville (2-3-2, 2-3-1 PSAC East) is coming off of a draw at Mansfield on Wednesday. Savanah Rennix scored a goal with less than 20 seconds left in regulation to tie the match at one and send it to overtime, Palina Jordan assisted on the goal. 
  • Shepherd (1-4, 0-4 PSAC East) comes into the match after a 2-1 loss to Lock Haven on Wednesday. The Rams had their two games before that canceled due to COVID-19 concerns. 
  • Millersville currently sits at No. 5 in the PSAC East, while Shepherd is in last and is still looking for their first conference win. 

SCOUTING THE MARAUDERS

  • Millersville has had a tough conference schedule this far in, with all of their losses coming to the top two teams in the PSAC East. (No. 4 Kutztown and No. 20 West Chester)
  • The team has scored six goals, seven games into the 2021 season. Morgan Winchock and Rachel Leisher lead the group with two each, followed by Jordan and Rennix with one. Jordan also leads the team in assists with two. Winchock ranks ninth in shots in the PSAC with 25.
  • Reagan Kolinski and the Marauder defense have done a good job to keep the team in every game. Millersville has only suffered one two-goal loss (West Chester, 9/25) this season. Kolinski ranks top 10 in the PSAC in every goalkeeping category, goals against average (9), shutouts per game (9), saves (10), and saves per game (8). 

SCOUTING THE RAMS

  • Shepherd earned their only win in their first match of the season. The Rams took down Chestnut Hill on Sept. 2 by a score of 3-1. Brook Bennett, Paris Kimbrell, and Sara Hohn each scored a goal in the win. Three of the Rams four season goals came in the win, the other coming in their most recent loss to Lock Haven. 
  • Kimbrell currently sits at number two in the PSAC in game-winning goals.
