MILLERSVILLE, Pa. - Millersville University redshirt sophomore point guard
Jaden Faulkner has been named a 2020-21 Preseason All-American by Basketball Times.
Basketball Times is a monthly print publication that has covered college basketball for more than 40 years. The publication recognized only 23 Division II players as Preseason All-Americans.
It is quite the show of respect toward Faulkner considering that he played just five full games before a knee injury ended his 2019-20 season. In those five games, Faulkner looked like a strong candidate for PSAC East Athlete of the Year as he averaged 23.6 points, 8.8 assists and 6.2 rebounds per game. He scored 30 points twice, produced a double-double against Notre Dame College and recorded at least five assists in each game. He was named PSAC East Athlete of the Week just before the injury.
With Faulkner on the court, Millersville averaged 87.2 points per game and went 3-2, but the two losses came by a combined total of three points, both on the road against Fairmont State and Mercyhurst, which both qualified for the NCAA Tournament.
As a freshman, Faulkner became the sixth Millersville freshman to be named All-PSAC East and cracked the single-season top 10 list in both steals and assists.
In addition to Faulkner, Millersville returns all five starters (
Khari Williams,
Caden Najdawi,
Justin Nwosu,
James Sullivan and
Mekhi Hendricks) and its top six scorers from 2019-20.
