PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - For the first time since 1995, Millersville women's volleyball has won nine consecutive matches. The Marauders extended their winning streak with 3-0 victories over USciences and Mercy Saturday afternoon. 
The Marauders (10-3) swept USciences by scores of 25-16, 25-11, 25-14, and then dropped Mercy, 25-19, 25-18, 25-13. 
The nine consecutive wins represents the second-longest winning streak in program history. It is bested only by the 1995 team which won 21 in a row. That '95 team won the PSAC Championship and made the program's only NCAA Tournament appearance. 
MATCH HIGHLIGHTS: MILLERSVILLE VS. USCIENCES
•  Millersville totaled 43 kills to just 14 errors while USciences was limited to 19 total kills in three sets. 
Jayci Suseland nearly out-produced the entire USciences lineup as she finished with 14 kills to one error on 27 attempts, and she also added a season-high eight block assists. 
•  Millersville's defense at the net was key as it totaled a season-high 11 total blocks. 
Chyna Gubbings added a career-high seven block assists.

Katie Laughman tied for the team-high in digs with 13. Forry led the team with three aces. 
•  Millersville never trailed in the entire match. It scored on eight of the final 10 rallies in the first, led by as many as 12 points in the second, led by as many as 11 in the third. 
MATCH HIGHLIGHTS: MILLERSVILLE VS. MERCY
• Millersville piled up 46 kills to just 12 errors for a .304 hitting percentage while holding Mercy to a .083 attack percentage. 
Lindsey Blevins led the Marauders with 12 kills and 16 digs. Suseland added 11 kills--her 10th consecutive match with at least 10 kills.

Rebecca Dalstad totaled a team-high three aces. 
Carley Baughman recorded three blocks, giving her three consecutive matches with three or more blocks.

Katie Laughman recorded her 10th double-double of the season by recording 39 assists and 11 digs. 
• The difference in the opening set came late as Millersville led by two at 21-19. A Mercy attack error was followed by kills from Blevins and Suseland, getting the Marauders to set point, where Mercy's fifth error of the set was the clincher. 
• Millersville broke open the second set much earlier. With an 11-9 lead, the Marauders scored on six of the next seven rallies, and Mercy never got closer than five the rest of the way. 
• In the third, Millersville rallied from a 4-1 deficit and broke an 8-8 tie by scoring seven consecutive points--a run that included three kills from Suseland and two aces from Dalstad. Millersville also scored the final four points to win by 12. 
THOUGHTS FROM COACH BRIAN SMITH
• On the team's play during the winning streak: "I like that we have been growing and learning. We have new players and we have returners who are learning to play well together. Today they made some adjustments on their own based on the opponents. They are coming together and working well together."
• On starting PSAC play next weekend: "The focus this week will be on talking about what we've learned to this point and continue to get buy in on the things we need to continue to work on. We will look at our opponents, see what their strengths and prepare for them." 
NOTES
• Millersville is now 8-0 all-time against USciences. The match against Mercy was the first meeting between the programs since 1998. 
• Millersville's last six wins have come in straight sets. 
• Millersville's 11 total blocks against USciences were a season high and the most in a match since Sept. 22, 2018. 
UP NEXT
•  Millersville begins conference play with a road trip to PSAC Southwest members, Cal U and Seton Hill. Both teams reached the NCAA Tournament in 2018. Millersville plays Cal U on Friday, Sept. 27 at 6 p.m., then travels to Seton Hill on Saturday for a 1 p.m., start time.
