
Marauders impressive in 37th annual Millersville Metrics

MILLERSVILLE, Pa. - One day each year, the Millersville women's track and field team gets a chance to compete on its home track. The Marauders made that one chance count Saturday with an impressive showing at the 37th annual Millersville Metrics. Senior Sunflower Greene, making her final appearance at Biemesderfer Stadium, swept the throwing events and set new stadium and event records in the shot put and hammer throw.
Millersville finished second in the team standings with 120 points. East Stroudsburg won the team title with 160.50.
MEET HIGHLIGHTS
• Greene set a PSAC record in the hammer throw with a toss of 200-3. It was nearly an 18-feet improvement over her first meet of the season and an incredible 9-2 better than any other athlete in Division II this season. Madison Martin placed third in the event with a career-best 163-9, and Stephanie Garner placed fifth with a season-best 155-7.
• While Greene set an event record of 50-3 1/4 in the shot put, sophomore Aliyah Striver posted an NCAA "B" qualifying mark of 46-2 1/2, placing her in second. Martin took sixth (41-1 1/2) and Reunisha Williams (38-11 3/4) placed seventh--both qualifying for the PSAC Outdoor Championships.
• Greene won the discus with a toss of 147-5. Striver was the runner-up at 41-4. Martin placed fourth at 138-4.
• Senior Clara Forney also starred in her final home meet, winning oth the 200-meter dash and the 400-meter dash with personal bests in both events. Forney's 57.15 in the 400 was the third-fastest time in program history, and teammate Lenaiya Flowers finished in 57.99 in third place. Both qualified for the PSAC Championships with those times. Forney led five Marauders in the top 10 in the 200 with a 25.48--the eighth-fastest time in program history. Emonie Reviere placed third with a personal best time of 25.51. Flowers also ran a PR at 25.91 and took fourth. All three posted PSAC qualifying times.
• Yoangelys Rijo-Cedeno qualified for the PSAC Championships and finished third in the 800-meter run with a PR time of 2:23.06.
• Brianna Doherty, Emonie Reviere, Gabriela Karch and Destinee Holloman teamed for a first-place finish in the 4x100-meter relay and set a Metrics record with a time of 47.84.
• Holloman posted a PR of 18-1 1/2 in the long jump. It was good for third on Saturday and stands as the fifth-longest jump in program history. Doherty jumped 17-10 3/4 for fourth place. Both qualified for the PSAC Championships.

• Forney is the first athlete since 2009 to win both the 200 and 400 at the Millersville Metrics.

• Millersville's multi-athletes will compete at Kutztown on April 11-12, and the majority of the team will travel to Bucknell for the Bison Open on April 13.
