Women's lacrosse loses very close 14-13 game against Seton Hill; will enter PSAC Tournament as No. 6 seed

Millersville, Pa. - The Millersville University women's lacrosse team's regular season finale and Senior Day against Seton Hill came down to a last-second free-position shot which the Griffins goalkeeper, Hailey Jacobs, saved to preserve the 14-13 victory for Seton Hill on Saturday afternoon on Chryst Field at Biemesderfer Stadium.

The Marauders (9-8, 7-5 PSAC) will enter the PSAC Tournament as the No. 6 seed, while the Griffins (10-7, 8-4 PSAC) will enter the tournament as the No. 5 seed.

MATCH HIGHLIGHTS
• The game was tied, 10-10, with 10:10 left on the clock in the second half. The duo of Mackenzie Kilduff and Jaclyn Frank tormented Millersville throughout the half, as Kilduff broke the tie off an assist from Frank at the 9:21 mark. Gillian Zimmerman and Erin Fagan scored back-to-back goals to give the Marauders a 12-11 lead, but Kilduff rattled off three-straight goals, two assisted by Frank, to give Seton Hill the lead again, 14-12.
Sara Burney scored her fourth goal of the game with 2:10 left on the clock to cut the deficit to one. The Griffins won the subsequent draw control and ran out the shot clock, leaving Millersville with 33 seconds to get down the field and tie the game. The Seton Hill defense didn't allow any good looks to the Marauder offense, but Erin Fagan was fouled with just two seconds left on the clock. Fagan had already scored a free-position goal earlier in the game and is the team-leader in free-position shot percentage, but Hailey Jacobs made her eighth and final save of the game to secure the victory for the Griffins.
• The Marauders dominated the early portion of the game, scoring four of the first five goals and bringing a 5-3 lead into halftime. Millersville scored three of the first four goals in the second half to take an 8-4 lead, but then Seton Hill scored six-straight goals, Frank scored one and assisted two more, to take a 10-8 lead. Gillian Zimmerman caused a turnover, took the ball and ran it all the way across the field for an unassisted goal to cut the deficit to one. Burney followed with a goal of her own just over 30 seconds later to tie the game, 10-10.

COACH CINDY WILSON QUOTES
• "We had a great opportunity today, but unfortunately we had some lapses at different points which hurt us in the end."
• "It came down to the last shot, but there were a lot of things that happened before where we did not capitalize on certain opportunities. Erin Fagan has done a great job all season on free-position shots, there is no one else we would want in that situation. But it should not have come down to that last shot."
• "We're still excited to be in the playoffs. We're happy that we get another game this season and we had a close game with Mercyhurst earlier this season. We just have to buckle down, dig in and work together going into Tuesday."

INDIVIDUAL LEADERS
Sara Burney led the attack with six points, including a career-high four goals. Gillian Zimmerman also scored four goals, while Grace Cobaugh scored three and, along with Sarah Leverentz, won a team-high four draw controls.
Michella Salvitti and Nathalie Sell each scooped up a game-high four ground balls, while Cobaugh and Zimmerman each collected three.
Shannon Davis made 12 stops in net, the eighth time this season she has recorded double-digit saves.

NOTES
Shannon Davis, Erin Fagan, Jovonna Jewell, Nathalie Sell, Natalie Sukanick and Bryana Weston-Wyatt were honored prior to the start of the game.
