
Millersville track and field finishes competition at Bison Open

LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Millersville University women's track and field team competed in a Division I-laden field Saturday and Sunday at the Bison Open. Millersville's efforts were led by Sunflower Greene's first-place finishes in the discus and shot put.
MEET HIGHLIGHTS
• Greene opened competition Saturday with a season-high 154-9 in the discus, winning the event by nearly three feet over Penn State's Payden Montana. Greene was the lone Division II thrower in the top five, and placing sixth was Millersville's Madison Martin, who hit a career-best 142-1. That mark ranks second in the PSAC this season.
• Greene won the shot put by less than an inch, landing her third attempt 49-6 1/4. Montana's third attempt was 49-5 1/4. Greene threw 192-2 in the hammer, placing second behind Penn State's Gianna Rao (193-8). Greene was the only Division II thrower in the top seven. Martin finished 14th (160-4) and fifth among non-Division I throwers.
• Clara Forney placed ninth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 57.52. She was third among Division II runners.
• Emonie Reviere ran a personal-best and PSAC Championships qualifying time of 12.46, placing 10th in the 100-meter dash.
• Destinee Holloman qualified for the PSAC Championships and placed eighth in the 200-meter dash with a career-best time of 25.75.
• Yoangelys Rijo-Cedeno ran a career-best time of 2:22.11 in the 800-meter run.
WHAT ASSISTANT COACH AKIL STOKES HAD TO SAY
• "Given the weather and not ideal conditions, we were happy with the performances overall. We saw good things and good sings for the athletes. They kept positive attitudes throughout the entire meet and showed support to everyone. We are finally starting tos ee solid results from our block training."
NOTES
• Holloman is now one of four Marauders qualified for the PSAC Championships in the 200. She is joined by Forney, Reviere and Lenaiya Flowers.
• Through three meets, Forney holds the PSAC's top time in the 400 and is eighth in the 200. Flowers ranks second in the 400. Greene and Aliyah Striver are 1-2 in the shot put. Greene and Martin are 1-2 in the discus. Greene is first in the hammer while Martin and Stephanie Garner are fourth and sixth respectively.
UP NEXT
• Millersville has a busy two weeks ahead with five upcoming events in 14 days. The SU Invitational at Shippensburg is Wednesday, April 17, and the Marauders travel to the Chris Merli Invitational at East Stroudsburg on April 20.
