Softball loses two against Kutztown

MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – The Millersville University softball team was defeated by Kutztown 4-1 in game one and suffered a 6-1 loss in game two of the PSAC East doubleheader at Seaber Softball Stadium.

The Marauders drop to 15-18 (1-3 PSAC) while the Golden Bears improve to 14-12 (2-2 PSAC).

After hitting the first home run of her collegiate career at East Stroudsburg on Friday, Brianna White went 3-for-6 with a home run on Saturday.

GAME ONE HIGHLIGHTS
• Millersville struck first in the bottom of the first when Maggie Murphy drew a bases-loaded walk, scoring Allie Janowiak for the Marauders' only run of the game.
• In the next half inning, Kutztown sent two home runs out of the park which gave it a 3-1 advantage. Amber Brugger, kept the Marauders hitless in the next two innings. Sara Keeny added the final run of the first game with a sacrifice fly in the top of the fourth.
• The Marauders had a chance to cut the deficit with bases loaded in the bottom of the sixth but Brugger popped up Hunter Little, endingthe threat..
• Catherine Johnson started and gave up three runs. Maddie Guinane threw the rest of the game and allowed only one run and seven hits.

GAME TWO HIGHLIGHTS
• Kutztown opened the second game with Keeny scoring on a passed ball in the top of the first. The Golden Bears scored four runs in the top of the third, earning them a 5-0 lead.
• Kutztown allowed just two hits over next four innings. Brianna White led off the bottom of the seventh inning with a left field home run, ending the shutout opportunity for the Golden Bears.
• Bridget Bailey kept the Marauders to a total of four hits. Two of those hits came from Janowiak.
• White got the game two start and allowed three hits, four runs and struck out three batters through the first two innings. After the four-run top of the third for Kutztown, Emma Bevard came on in relief, throwing the last five innings. Bevard allowed three hits and two runs in her outing.

• "We are still leaving way too many base runners on with less than two outs."
• "Guinane found a groove and had a great outing today."

NOTES
• White extended her hitting streak to six games. White improved her batting average to .357 which ranks second on the team behind Faith Willenbrock's .391.
• Brianna Battavio and White have reached base in the past seven games.
• White's home run in game two was her second of the season.

• The Marauders returns to non-conference play on Wednesday, April 3 as they host Chestnut Hill at 3 p.m.
