Lock Haven, Pa. - Lock Haven scored the final three goals of the game, but it was unable to complete the comeback and the Millersville University women's lacrosse team held on for its second-straight Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) road win. It marks the Marauders' first victory at Lock Haven, who appeared in the NCAA Championship game just four seasons ago, in the last 11 seasons.
Millersville (5-3, 3-1 PSAC) has won four of its last five and is off to its best start in conference play since 2001, while the Bald Eagles (3-5, 1-2 PSAC) fall to 2-2 at home after going 10-0 at home last season.
MATCH HIGHLIGHTS
• The Marauders struck early and often, scoring six of the first seven goals and outscoring Lock Haven 9-4 in the first half.
Erin Fagan paced the offense in the half, having already recorded a hat trick by halftime.
• The two teams exchanged goals back-and-forth to start the second half, with Millersville holding a 12-6 lead with 12:07 remaining in the game. Two-consecutive Bald Eagles goals in the span of 20 seconds, with Braxtin Reddinger scoring one and assisting the other, cut the Marauder lead to four with 3:52 left on the clock.
• Lock Haven earned a free position attempt and fired off two other shots in the final three minutes, but the free position shot went wide and
Shannon Davis stopped the other two shots to preserve the Millersville lead. The Bald Eagles scored one final goal with 24 seconds left in the game, but it was too little too late.
