Lafayette Hill, Pa. - Neither team ever led by more than two goals in the Millersville University women's lacrosse team's 12-11 loss at Chestnut Hill on Saturday afternoon. The Marauders now hold a record of 1-2, while the Griffins earned their first victory of the season.
Despite the loss, Millersville outshot Chestnut Hill 33-28, with 27 of those shots going on goal, and held a 14-11 advantage in draw controls.

Gillian Zimmerman, off a career-high four-goal game, tallied the first score of the contest less than two minutes into the game and
Erin Fagan soon followed with her second goal of the season to give the Marauders an early 2-0 lead. Chestnut Hill scored the next two goals to knot up the score, but Millersville retook the lead when
Emily Jacobsen scored her first goal of the season at the 17:33 mark.
• The Griffins scored the next three goals to take their first lead of the game, but a goal from
Grace Cobaugh, assisted by
Genevieve Speights, near the end of the first half made it a one-point game and Millersville trailed just 5-4 at halftime.
• Julie Reinert extended the Chestnut Hill lead to 6-4, but the Marauders followed with three-straight goals, two from Speights including the go-ahead tally at the 25:56 mark, to take a 7-6 lead. Two goals in just over 30 seconds gave the Griffins the lead once again, but Millersville responded with two-straight goals, including a go-ahead goal from
Sara Burney at the 17:11 mark.
• Chestnut Hill took advantage of being up one player and tied the game at the 15:05 mark. Speights responded with another go-ahead goal, her fourth of the game, at the 11:42 mark off a pass from
Calie Swegon.
• The Marauders never led again, as the Griffins scored the next three goals and led 12-10 with under four minutes to play. Zimmerman made it a one-point game at the 2:54 mark thanks to an assist from Speights, but Millersville was unable to score again and lost its first road game of the season.

Genevieve Speights scored a team-high four goals and added two assists for a career-high six points.
Grace Cobaugh and
Erin Fagan each had three points; Cobaugh with two goals and one assist and Fagan with one goal and two assists.
Gillian Zimmerman scored two goals and
Calie Swegon recorded two assists.
• Cobaugh collected a team-high four ground balls and caused a game-high three turnovers, while Speights won a team-high five draw controls.

Shannon Davis made five stops in net.
NOTES
• This marks Chestnut Hill's first win against Millersville. The Marauders won the previous two meetings between these two teams.
• The two teams were nearly even in turnovers. The Griffins turned the ball over 23 times, while the Marauders did so 21 times.
• Millersville went 13-for-17 on clears, while Chestnut Hill went 19-for-29.
