Millersville, Pa. - Edinboro kept the game close throughout the first half and early second half, but a 6-1 run by the Millersville University women's lacrosse team sparked it to an 18-10 win on a windy Saturday afternoon on Chryst Field at Biemesderfer Stadium.
The Marauders (3-2, 1-0 PSAC) won their second-straight game, while the Fighting Scots (0-5, 0-1 PSAC) are still seeking their first win this season.
MATCH HIGHLIGHTS
• After Edinboro scored at the 17:03 mark in the second half to cut its deficit to 10-7, Millersville head coach
Cindy Wilson called for a timeout. From there the Marauders scored three goals in the span of seven minutes and allowed just three tallies to the Fighting Scots for the rest of the game.
• The two teams exchanged the lead back and forth early in the game, with Edinboro tying the game, 4-4, at the 15:38 mark in the first half. Wilson called for a timeout and Millersville would then score the next fives goals, each one coming from a different Marauder, to build a lead it would ultimately not surrender.
• The Fighting Scots won six of the first seven draw controls, but then Wilson had
Erin Fagan take the draw for the remainder of the game. From there, Millersville won 15 draw controls over the course of the match while Edinboro won only eight.
COACH CINDY WILSON QUOTES
• "We played hard and together. We executed a lot of things we have been working on in practice and it was a good overall team win."
• "
Erin Fagan stepped up today and did a really great job in the middle and taking the draw. Before the game we talked about being hungry for the ball and fighting for it on 50/50s and after that first timeout they went back to the basics and it worked for us."
• "Sometimes we need to reset and give ourselves a mental breather. Then after that we are able to come out with intensity and fire. They did a good job of shaking things off and continuing forward after those timeouts."
• "Offense is the thing that takes the longest to mesh, but we're starting to hit our stride now on offense. We're starting to see and recognize each other's strengths and we're also seeing some creativity on our offense, which is fun to watch."
• "It's great to start off PSAC play with a win. East Stroudsburg on Tuesday will be a tough game so it's good to work a few kinks out and go into that game with some confidence after a win."

• Millersville outshot Edinboro 44-25, turned the ball over just 13 times compared to the Fighting Scots' 24 turnovers and were a perfect 19-for-19 on clears. The last time the Marauders were perfect on clears was in their 18-4 win over Shepherd on March 7, 2017.
• This marks Millersville's fourth-straight win against Edinboro. The Marauders now lead the all-time series 6-3, including 5-1 at Millersville.
UP NEXT
• The Marauders stay home to continue PSAC play and face a tough task when they host No. 9 East Stroudsburg on Tuesday, March 19 at 5 p.m. on Chryst Field at Biemesderfer Stadium. Millersville's first game against a nationally-ranked opponent this season comes against a Warriors team that made it all the way to the NCAA Tournament Semifinals last season.
