Clermont, Fla. – Down by one in the bottom of the seventh with the tying run on first base,
Rebecca Blatt smashed a walk-off home run for an 8-7 victory over Merrimack. Later in the day, the Marauders were defeated 5-1 by No. 16 Wayne State on the final day of the Florida spring break trip.
All of the Marauders' runs in game one came off of home runs: two by
Faith Willenbrock and one each from
Maggie Murphy and Blatt.
Allie Janowiak went 2-for-4 against each team.
The Marauders finish the Florida trip 3-5 and with a 9-10 overall record. The Warriors of Merrimack dropped to 7-10 while Wayne State improved to 15-4.
GAME ONE HIGHLIGHTS
• The Marauders led 6-4 into the top of the seventh. Merrimack struck back with three runs, taking its first lead of the game with a one-run advantage.
• With two outs in the bottom of the inning,
Brianna Battavio came up with a clutch single, putting the tying run on first. Blatt unleashed a bomb over the outfield fence, sending the Marauders to home plate to celebrate the walk-off win.
• A three-run home run by Willenbrock opened the scoring in the bottom of the first. Later, Merrimack tied the game at 3-3 with two singles in the top of the third. Willenbrock and
Maggie Murphy hit one home run each a half inning later.
• Willenbrock, Blatt and Janowiak all had two hits each while Willenbrock recorded five RBIs with her two home runs.
• On the mound,
Brianna White got the start, going two innings only allowing one hit, no runs and striking out one batter.
Emma Bevard came into relief in the top of the third and threw 4 2/3 innings.
Maddie Guinane closed out the game with the last out.
GAME TWO HIGHLIGHTS
• Hannah McClounie got Wayne State on the board with a two-run home run. The Warriors kept offense going with a two-run double in the bottom of the third, improving their lead to 4-0.
• Willenbrock drove in Blatt with a sac fly in the sixth, recording the first run for the Marauders.Â
• Janowiak had two hits with Staniec,
Catherine Johnson and Murphy recorded one hit each.
• Johnson registered her third complete game of the season while allowing nine hits, one walk and striking out one. Wayne State's pitcher Paige Ameel totaled 11 strikeouts.

• Guinane picked up her first collegiate win and improved to 1-2 on the season.
• The Marauders' four home runs tied the season's most.
• Willenbrock tied her most home runs in a single game with two. Blatt's walk-off two run home run was her first of the season after hitting 11 last season.

• The Marauders return back to the area with back-to-back home doubleheaders against Bowie State on Tuesday, March 19 and Pitt-Johnstown on Wednesday, March 20. First pitch on Tuesday is scheduled for 2 p.m.
