Clermont, Fla. – With the score tied at 4-4 in extra innings, the Millersville University softball team muscled out seven-runs in the top of the eighth inning en route to a 11-5 win over Saint Thomas Aquinas. Earlier in the day, the Marauders dropped a 13-0 decision to Auburn University of Montgomery.
The Marauders move to 8-9 on the season.
GAME ONE HIGHLIGHTS
• The Warhawks were fueled by a seven-run top of the fifth which featured a grand slam, triple, single and a walk. The Marauders faced dominant pitching performance in Chanel Newcomer who threw the first four innings, striking out six batters and keeping the Marauders to one hit.

Allie Janowiak had Millersville's lone hit of the game--a double in the bottom of the first.Â

Brianna White got the start and pitched 3 1/3 innings while striking out five batters. AUM was patient in the batter's box, drawing seven walks. The Marauders used four total pitchers in the game.
GAME TWO HIGHLIGHTS
• The Marauders received standout-performances by pitcher
Catherine Johnson and
Faith Willenbrock in game two as they both got three hits. Johnson also threw a complete game, striking out three batters.
• Tied 4-4 at the end of seventh inning, the Marauders and the Spartans headed into extra innings to determine the winner. In the top of the inning, Millersville recorded four consecutive singles, including one by Johnson and a double from
Hunter Little.
Alexis Staniec drew a walk, and
Allie Janowiak drove in Johnson with a RBI groundout. The Spartans changed pitchers but were unable to stop the Marauders scoring as Battavio double, bringing home Little from second.
• The Marauders began the game by building a 4-0 lead in the top of the third but the Spartans chipped back with one run in the bottom of the third and then a three-run home run in the bottom of the fifth. St. Thomas Aquinas loaded the bases with no outs in the bottom of the seventh, but Johnson extended the game with a pair of pop outs and a strike out.Â
• Johnson shined, going 3-for-4 with two RBIs and a complete game. Johnson allowed seven hits with one walk.
Hunter Little added two hits and an RBI.

• Johnson's three hits improved her batting average on the season to .316.
• Game two's 11 runs were the second-highest total of runs and RBIs this season. The four doubles were a season high.Â

• The Marauders finish their spring break trip Friday, March 15 with a game against Merrimack at 11:45 a.m., and one against Wayne State at 2 p.m. Following this weekend, Millersville returns back home for back-to-back doubleheaders against Bowie State and Pitt-Johnstown on Tuesday, March 19 and Wednesday, March 20.
