KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The Millersville women's swim team claimed first place in six events in the meet against Kutztown Saturday afternoon. The Marauders dropped the meet 126-85.
Madisson Cartmill saw first-place finishes in the 100-yard backstroke, 100-yard freestyle and 400-yard individual medley.
Cartmill touched the wall with a season-best time of 1:01.15 in the 100 back, marking her fifth PSAC cut of the season. She posted a 56.51 in the 100 free, two seconds ahead of Kutztown's Emmarose Decaro. Cartmill cleared the PSAC qualifying time in the 400 IM by nine seconds, completing the race in 4:51.06. The time marked a new career-best for the senior.
Maddie Stoner earned two first-place finishes in the meet. Stoner recorded a time of 26.13 in the 50-yard freestyle. She touched the wall with a time of 1:04.60 in the 100-yard butterfly followed by teammate
Lucia Martin with a career-best time of 1:22.11.
Freshman
Amanda Simon came in second in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:16.22.
Jessica Berry had a third-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke touching the wall in 1:16.65.
Millersville came out on top in the 200-yard freestyle relay. The squad of Stoner, Martin, Berry and
Eryn Bartlett finished the race in 1:53.78, about a second faster than their seeded time.
"We swam some different events than previous meets, allowing us to engage and bring some new energy. We swam pretty well and got a couple of best times either personal or in season," said head coach Erick Usbeck, "We are beginning to prepare for our midseason meet, and I think we are in a great spot."
The Marauders return to the pool at Anttonen Nataorium on Saturday, Nov. 23 to face Juniata.
