MILLERSVILLE, Pa. - It has been a much-needed week of recovery for the No.12-ranked Millersville women's soccer team, as they did not play last Saturday and are refreshed and ready to host Shippensburg University on Wednesday evening. The Marauders' ascent in the United Soccer Coaches Division II National Poll has once again resumed, moving up a spot this week after falling from No. 6 to No. 13 following the loss to No. 7 Bloomsburg. The Huskies remain the only team in 2019 to have defeated Millersville.

The last time the Marauders were on the pitch (Oct. 16) they defeated Lock Haven 2-0 in a game affected greatly by high winds.

Millersville sits in second place in the PSAC East standings, just three points behind first-place Bloomsburg, although the Marauders have a game in hand. Those two teams meet once again in the last game of the regular season on Nov. 9.

Wednesday marks the second time that Shippensburg and Millersville have met this fall. The Marauders were 3-0 victors back on Sept. 21.

The Raiders have won two of their last three games, with the lone defeat a 4-1 decision to Bloomsburg.

ABOUT THE MARAUDERS
  • Millersville remains one of the most efficient offenses in the PSAC. The team's 34 goals scored is the third-highest total in the conference, as is the team's 240 shots launched in 2019.
  • The Marauders defense is one of the stingiest in the conference. Freshman goalkeeper Reagan Kolinski and her back line--including Paige Mancini, Calista Paolino, Bailey Peck, Lauren Downey, Chandler Garcia and Haley Peachey--have only allowed five goals to opposing teams. That number is tied with Bloomsburg for lowest in the entire PSAC, and Millersville's seven clean sheets in PSAC play (nine overall) is tied for best in the conference with East Stroudsburg.
  • Kay Liebl assisted on a Savannah Rennix goal against Lock Haven and now improves to just two points behind record holder Becky Morris on the program's all-time career points list. She broke Morris' career goals record earlier this fall.

  • The Marauders are 15-12-5 all-time versus the Shippensburg Raiders.

PREVIOUS MEETING (Millersville 3, Shippensburg 0 - Sept. 21, 2019)

  • Michelle Belcher crossed a beautiful ball to the head of Kay Liebl to score the second goal in the 60th minute, and Paige Mancini blasted a free kick home in the 85th minute to seal the 3-0 win.
  • Millersville out-shot Shippensburg 24-8 in the game and held a 5-1 advantage in corner kicks.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
