Women’s swimming falls to LIU Post and Kuztown on Senior Day

Millersville, Pa. – The Millersville University women's swimming team lost to LIU Post and Kuztown on Senior Day Saturday in Pucillo Natatorium. The Pioneers won 131-103 against the Marauders while Millersville fell 161.50-92.50 to the Golden Bears.

Before today's meet, the team honored three seniors: Gabriella Licata, Amira Washington and Amanda Wetzler.

MEET HIGHLIGHTS
• In the 100-yard backstroke, Wetzler finished second with a time of 1:01.74, three seconds shy of first place. Two spots down the standings, sophomore Alexis Shollenberger concluded the event in fourth with a 1:02.61 time.
• In the 200-yard backstroke, junior Madisson Cartmill recorded a 2:16.16 to take second behind LIU Post's Karis Fuller's 2:06.63. Cartmill added a third-place finish in the 200-yard individual medley, recording her first event swim of the season.
• Sophomore Rylan Tepe eclipsed her previous season best in the 200-yard freestyle by three seconds, posting a time of 2:10.35.
• Licata was five hundredths of a second faster than her previous 100-yard breaststroke season best set at the F&M Invitational (1:15.93), touching the wall at 1:55.88.
• Wetzler earned a fourth-place finish in the 50-yard free (26.96). Washington was very close to beating her teammate in the event but finished in fifth with a 27.01.
• Freshman Maddie Stoner was a second shy of her season best in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:02.67, posting the third top time in that event this season.
• The Marauders finished third in both the 200-yard individual medley relay and 200-yard freestyle relay.

NOTES
• In the past seven years, the Marauders have won three against the Golden Bears and today's result put Kuztown ahead with four. Kuztown kept its winning streak going against the Marauders, taking the last two meetings.
• LIU Post has won every meeting against the Marauders. 

NEXT
• The Marauders look ahead to their final regular season meet--the East Stroudsburg Invitational--on Saturday, Feb. 2 before hitting the pool at the four-day PSAC Championships starting on Feb. 20.
