Greene, Myers star at Penn Relays

Philadelphia, Pa. - Millersville throwers Sunflower Greene and Amanda Myers more than held their own against some of the nation's top competition at Thursday's Penn Relays. Greene placed fourth in the championship flight of the shot put. Myers competed in both the hammer throw and the javelin.
Greene and Myers were the only Division II competitors in their events. Greene set a new PSAC record with a heave of 52-3 1/2, finishing only to athletes from Oklahoma, Indiana and Florida State.
Myers took eighth out of 29 athletes in the college flight of the hammer throw. She hit a PR of 173-5. It surpassed her previous career best by nearly four feet and it improved her NCAA provisional qualifying mark.
In the championship flight of the javelin, Myers placed 11th with a distance of 141-0.
Millersville's 4x100-meter relay and 4x400-meter relay teams also competed. The 4x100 squad ran a 48.06, shaving nearly a full second off of its previous season best. The 4x400 ran a 3:56.12, which was more than four seconds faster than its previous season best.
Millersville's full squad will be in action Saturday at the Paul Kaiser Classic.
