Callie Kavanaugh scored her 10th hat trick of the season, but the Millersville women's lacrosse team fell to No. 8 West Chester University, 14-6, in its home finale, Wednesday afternoon.
Millersville absorbed West Chester's pressing style of play to start the game, but the the Golden Rams broke through to take a 1-0 lead, five-plus minutes into the game. The goal sparked a six-goal scoring run that ended with less than three minutes to play in the first half. Kavanaugh found senior
Sabrina Fusco cutting towards goal, who buried her shot in the back of the net, to cut into West Chester's lead. However, the Golden Rams found the net with eight seconds left to take momentum into halftime.
West Chester started the scoring three minutes into the second half to take an 8-1 lead. Kavanaugh responded with a free position goal to cut the lead back to six. Kavanaugh, then, scored two more goals with a man-up advantage, following successive yellow cards by West Chester. Momentum was swinging in Millersville's favor, but a Millersville turnover on a clear attempt gave West Chester an opportunity to retake control of the game. The Golden Rams scored on the possession which sparked a 6-2 scoring run to close out the game.
Kavanaugh's three goals extended her season tally to 46 goals. She has scored multiple goals in 12 games this season and has 16 goals in her last five. Kavanaugh is leaving it all out on the field in her final season and has nearly doubled her 25 goals from the 2017 season.

Shannon Davis was called into action early and often during the game. The goalkeeper made 17 saves which was her second-highest save total of the season.
Millersville falls to 10-6 and 5-6 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference, and the team was eliminated from playoff contention. The Marauders head to Greensburg, Pa. for their regular-season finale against Seton Hill University. Millersville will look to equal its highest win total since the 2016 season when it won 11 games. The game at Seton Hill is scheduled for Saturday, April 28 at 1 p.m.
