Box Score Millersville, Pa. – In a key Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference women's tennis matchup with playoff implications, the No. 3 singles match decided the Millersville and East Stroudsburg battle in which the Warriors came out on top, 5-4, on Tuesday afternoon at the McComsey Courts.
The No. 3 singles match went to a tiebreaker situation in the second set to decide the outcome of the team match. Junior
Haley Nauman battled with ESU's Aubrianna Stetina. Stetina took the first set, 7-5 and then Stetina and Nauman went back and forth in the second set to go 6-6. The tiebreaker went to Stetina after she won four games.
The Warriors produced a 2-1 advantage at the conclusion of doubles, but the Marauders countered with three singles wins.
In the No. 1 doubles match, junior
Katina Jones and freshman
Megan Rovenolt defeated Marina Zardet and Stetina, 8-5. It was the Marauders' No.1 doubles team's fourth win of the season and second straight.
Jones ended her day with another win in the No. 1 singles match over Zardet by claiming the first set in a tiebreaker. Jones then steamrolled the second set 6-1. Jones now has nine singles victories this season.
Rovenolt captured her second consecutive victory in the No. 2 singles match. Rovenolt defeated Devin Presby with scores of 6-4 and 7-5. Freshman
Lauren Weaver registered victories at the No. 6 singles spot; 6-2 and 6-3. Weaver earned her fifth career singles victory.
The Marauders travel for their last regular season away match at West Chester on Thursday, April 12 at 12 p.m.
