GAME OVERVIEW
• Millersville trails Bloomsburg by just one game in the PSAC standings and the Marauders look to hold serve at home, where it is 3-5 this season. Bloomsburg is 3-3 on the road but has played just two road games since November.
• The rivalry between Millersville and Bloomsburg is among the PSAC's oldest and most competitive. Only four wins separate an all-time series that started in 1906. With 186 all-time meetings, Millersville has played only Kutztown and West Chester more times. Aside from a two-season hiatus during World War II, Millersville and Bloomsburg have met at least twice each season since 1931-32 and has played every season since 1927-28. Bloomsburg has swept the season series in each of the last two seasons, but before that, no team had won both match-ups in the season since Millersville did it in 2007-08. Bloomsburg has won eight of the last 11 games including two in a row in Pucillo Gymnasium after not winning in Pucillo for 13 years. Bloomsburg's four consecutive wins over the Marauders are the most by either team in the series since the Marauders took five in a row from 2006-2008.
• A fast start is essential for the Marauders. The team has led at halftime 10 times in 15 games and is 5-5 in those games but 0-5 when trailing at the half. In PSAC play, Millersville is 3-2 when holding a halftime lead.
• Millersville held Mansfield to 41.9 percent shooting, improving it to 5-4 (3-0 vs. PSAC) when holding opponents under 50 percent shooting. Millersville is 0-6 when opponents shoot above the 50 percent line.
•
Marcus Adkison has made a 3-pointer in 20 consecutive games, dating back to last season. The junior has also led the team in scoring in three consecutive games (nine times this season and 20 times in his career). Adkison has scored at least 20 points in each of the last three games. He's scored 20 or more 15 times in his two seasons with the Marauders, including seven times through 15 games this season. Adkison ranks eighth in the PSAC in scoring, 19th in field goal percentage, fifth in free throw percentage and fifth in 3-point percentage. The last Marauder to average 19 points per game in a season was Reggie Bates (19.2) in 2007-08. Only 13 Marauders have ever averaged 19 or more points per game over the course of a season. Earlier this season against Clarion, Adkison turned in the 25th 40-point game in Millersville history and the program's first since Jon Dunmeyer's 43 against Shepherd in 1993. His 44 were the most by any Marauder since Claude Hughes's 44 in 1988--tied for the fourth-most ever scored by a Marauder.
• The Marauders have leaned heavily on freshmen. Three freshmen started in the win over Mansfield and five of the eight players to play in the game were freshmen. More than half of the team's minutes played have come from freshmen. Freshman
Jamal Washington leads the team with a +45 (3.21 per game/9.08 per 40) plus-minus rating. After playing just 30 total minutes in the first six games, Washington has averaged 18.4 minutes, shooting .476 from the field, .389 from three with 20 steals--a team-best 4.5 per 40 minutes played.
SCOUTING BLOOMSBURG
• Bloomsburg has won four of the last five and most recently handed No. 23 West Chester is first loss of the season (98-90). Of the Huskies five losses, three have been against top PSAC teams and by five or fewer points. Losses include an OT road loss to PSAC West leader IUP and a three-point loss to PSAC West second-place team Slippery Rock. Bloomsburg was also narrowly defeated 97-92 on the road at Kutztown. All three of those teams were ranked in the most recent D2SIDA Atlantic Region poll.
• Bloomsburg has scored at least 83 points in each of the last five games, topping the 90-point mark two times. The Huskies rank third in the PSAC in 3-point percentage (.383). Christian Mortellite is the engine to the offense, averaging 22.8 points per game (4th in the PSAC). He's shooting 92.4 percent from the line and 41 percent from three, which ranks sixth in the PSAC. Mortellite is also the team's top rebounder, averaging 8.2 per game. Mortellite is a former All-PSAC East First Team pick and has scored 1,484 career points.
