GAME OVERVIEW
• Millersville hosts West Chester on Wednesday, looking to play spoiler against an undefeated and nationally-ranked PSAC team for the second consecutive season. Last January in Pucillo Gymnasium, Millersville upset then-No. 5 and 18-0 Shippensburg, 82-65. Three of Millersville's four wins have come at home.
• The Millersville-West Chester series is as historically competitive as any rivalry in the PSAC. In 1997 meetings, West Chester holds a slight 100-97 lead and that's thanks in large part to a run of seven consecutive wins and 10 wins in the last 11 meetings. The last time either team won at least seven in a row in the series came when Millersville took seven in a row from 1993-1995. Millersville also won 13 consecutive from 1984-90. West Chester has twice won nine in a row (1960-1965 and 1923-1928). West Chester has won three in a row and four of five at Pucillo Gymnasium but there was a time not long ago where home court was essential. Millersville won 10 of 11 home games against West Chester from 2002-2012. The winning team has scored at least 78 points in each of the last eight match-ups. West Chester is out-scoring Millersville on average 83.8-57.8 in that span.Â
• In its four victories, Millersville has shot 38.3 percent from 3-point range (34.9 percent overall this season). Sinking threes against West Chester will be important. The Marauders have shot 38 for 154 (.247) over the last six meetings (all losses).Â
• Despite a 4-8 record, Millersville is among the best in Division II at creating turnovers. The Marauders forced 37 turnovers against Cheyney--the most committed by a Millersville opponent in the Statcrew Era (2002-present). Millersville now ranks fourth in Division II in turnovers forced per game (21.8) and has forced more than 30 twice this season. Millersville also ranks third in turnover margin (7.3), trailing only fellow Atlantic Region teams West Liberty and East Stroudsburg. Millersville has generated at least 20 caused turnovers in six consecutive games. Millersville's 30 steals against Penn State Berks remain the most by any team in Division II this season and the second most of any college basketball team, trailing only Division I Youngstown State's 37 against Franciscan. Millersville and West Liberty are the only teams in Division II to force 20-plus steals two times. Millersville owns the No. 1 and No. 3 top steals performances in Division II this season. The Marauders have totaled double-digit steals in six in a row.Â
•
Marcus Adkison has been among the best at picking the opponent's pockets. He's tallied at least four steals in each of the last three games and has two or more in six in a row. He is tied for 18th nationally and is fourth in the PSAC in steals per game with 2.42.Â
• After totaling 13 points and eight rebounds in his previous four games, freshman
Caden Najdawi has averaged 15.0 points and 8.5 rebounds in his last two outings. He scored in double figures in both games. Najdawi has four double-figure performances this season and played at least 30 minutes in all four. In his other five games, he averaged just 13.8 minutes, 3.8 points and 1.8 rebounds per game.Â
SCOUTING THE GOLDEN RAMS
• West Chester is ranked No. 25 by the NABC and No. 20 in the D2SIDA poll and is the lone remaining undefeated team in the PSAC as well as one of only two unbeaten teams in the NCAA Atlantic Region. West Chester can win any style of game, having won two games with the winning score in the 50s and four with the winning score over 90. West Chester's plus-12.2 scoring margin ranks third in the PSAC. Its defense has been outstanding, holding opponents to a PSAC-best .401 field goal percentage. The Golden Rams will be a tough match-up for Millersville on the glass. West Chester averages 40 rebounds per game while Millersville averages a PSAC-worst 34.1. They rank third in the PSAC in rebounding margin while Millersville's minus-6.6 margin is last.Â
• A balanced offense is led by Tyrell Long, who is averaging 20.8 points and 76 rebounds per game. He leads five players averaging double figures. Included in that group is Eric-Evan Longino, who made his debut on Dec. 9 and has since scored in double figures in two of three games.Â
