Ben Fellman captured singles victory in the round of 16 at the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Tennis Individual Championship.
Both members of the men's tennis team was not able to advance to the next round.
The last time a Millersville player had won a match in the PSACÂ individual championship was 2014-15 season when Jody Sambrick Jr. reached the championship match to finish as the PSACÂ runner-up. In Millersville history, the last time, there was two Marauders in the quarterfinals of the individual championship was 2010 where Preetham Moras and Erik Wright claimed victories while the same year Moras and Drew Slocum took the doubles title.
Landis secured the win against West Chester's Charlie Rushing. Landis took the first set to 6-2 and won the second 6-3.
Seeing his first PSAC Championship competition, Fellman grabbed a win over Bloomsburg's Bernardo Abreu. Fellman won the first set 6-4 and then finished with a 6-2 win in the second.
In the round of eight, Landis played the No. 1 seed Vitor Albanese of Edinboro. Albanese had both sets go to him, winning a close 6-4 decision in the first set before a 6-0 score in the second.
Fellman lost in the second round against No. 2 seeded Ruri Fraser of Mercyhurst. Fraser took both sets by a 6-1 score.
Landis and Albansese met up again in the double competition. No. 1 doubles seed of Albanese and Daniel Fernandez won the match 8-1 against Landis and
Jose Alcazar.
The Marauders come home for back-to-back home matches against Edinboro and Fairmont State on Saturday, Oct. 7 and Sunday, Oct. 8.
