Fusco scores seven goals but Millersville's rally thwarted in the final minutes by PSAC rival No. 10 Mercyhurst

Erie, Pennsylvania -- The Millersville women's lacrosse team four unanswered goal rally in the final six minutes ended as Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference rival No. 10 Mercyhurst University scored a dagger in the final minute to overcome the Marauders 13-11.

Junior Sabrina Fusco scored both Millersville first half goals as Mercyhurst lead the Marauders 9-2 at the beginning of the second half. In the opening 15 minutes of the first half, Fusco scored four more goals and junior Callie Kavanaugh scored one while the Lakers mustered only two goals, and Mercyhurst lead 11-7 with 15 minutes to go. With 7:30 remaining, Mercyhurst scored their 12th goal and lead the Marauders by five goals. In the 54th minute. Kavanaugh scored and cut Mercyhurst's lead back to four goals. In the 57th minute, freshman Sarah Leverentz scored an unassisted goal to cut the lead to three. One minute later, junior Kristin Butzner assisted Fusco's seventh goal of the game to bring the Marauders within two goals. Senior Taylor Davis assisted senior Renee Landis eleven seconds later to cut the lead to one goal. At the final minute mark, Mercyhurst answered Millersville's rally with a dagger goal, and the game ended 13-11.

Millersville dropped to 5-6 on the season and 2-4 in conference play. The Marauder offense scored double digit goals for the first time since March 29 at Bloomsburg. Fusco now leads the team in points (40) and goals (29). Kavanaugh moved up to third on the team with 14 goals.

The Marauders and the Lakers both turned the ball over 23 times apiece. Millersville scooped up five more ground balls, but Mercyhurst won nine more draw controls. Mercyhurst's offense lead Millersville in shots and shots on goal.

The Marauders look to end their second three game losing streak of the season at PSAC rival Kutztown University April 12.
