Gaffney, South Carolina -- The Millersville women's lacrosse team lost its first game of the season at No. 8 Limestone College as the Saints topped the Marauders 16-6 Wednesday.
The Saints started fast, and the Marauders were down six goals in the opening 13 minutes. The scoring blitz was too much, and the Marauders could never get back on their game. Sophomore
Nathalie Sell opened the scoring for the Marauders as she scored her sixth goal of the season with 13 minutes remaining in the half. However, the Saints put the game out of reach as they rattled off four more goals before the close of the first half. Junior
Callie Kavanaugh assisted junior

The second half followed a similar trajectory to the first half. The Saints scored four unanswered goals in the opening seven minutes of the second half. Down 14-2, Fusco would score off senior
Renee Landis' assist with under 13 minutes remaining in the game. With the game completely out of reach, the Marauders outscored the Saints 3-2 in the final 12 minutes of the game. Senior
Jamie Damirgian scored two goals and Sell racked up her second of the game during the final stretch.
While efficient in potential scoring plays, scoring opportunities were fleeting for the Marauders. Millersville scored six goals on 10 shots while the Saints shot the ball 39 times. The Saints dominated the turnover battle and scooped up an overwhelming amount of ground balls. Millersville had 23 turnovers to Limestone's 11, and the Saints won 30 ground balls while the Marauders scooped up 18.
