Winston-Salem, North Carolina - Mitch Stoltzfus's lone hit of the day came in a big spot. The senior catcher hit a one-out single in the top of the 11th inning, plating the go-ahead run in Millersville's 11-9 win over Winston-Salem State.
Millersville (2-0) raced to a 6-0 lead before the homestanding Rams scored nine total runs in the sixth and seventh innings. After a
Jimmy Cain RBI single and
Cole Friese sacrifice fly in the seventh, Millersville held an 8-3 lead. But a two-out grand slam from Rams' catcher Michael McNamara capped a six-run seventh, and gave the Rams jumped in front, 9-8. Millersville quickly rallied.
Chas McCormick opened the eighth with a double, advanced on a Stoltzfus fly out and scored on Snyder's ground out, evening the score. Millersville handed the ball to
Mike Mock (1-0) in the bottom of the eighth, and he shut down the Rams the rest of the way. He faced two over the minimum, giving up only a single and an intentional walk in the bottom of the ninth. In the ninth, with runners on first and second, Mock easily preserved the tie with a strikeout and pop up to
Tyler Webster at short.
The Marauders put runners on base in the ninth and 10th but failed to score. In the 11th,
Ted Williams started the charge with a single. McCormick followed with his third hit of the day, and Williams' scored on Stoltzfus' tie-breaking hit. One batter later, Summerfield lifted a fly to left, deep enough for McCormick to score, giving Millersville a two-run cushion.
Mock sat down the last eight batters he faced for his first win of the season. In four innings of work he struck out four.
The first seven hitters in Millersville's lineup all recorded a hit. Cain reached base four times, drawing three walks to go with his RBI single. Along with his two singles and double, McCormick was hit by a pitch, putting him on base four times, and he scored three runs. Neff stole a base, giving him three in the first two games.

Eli Nabholz worked six innings, allowing three runs on six hits. He struck out three and did not walk a batter.
The Marauders complete the three-game series with Winston-Salem State Sunday afternoon.
