Millersville, Pa. - Micah Till's double-double of 27 points and 11 rebounds led Slippery Rock to a 90-78 win over homestanding Millersville Saturday.
Till, a 6-7, 250 pound sophomore, led a physical Slippery Rock front line that frustrated Millersville into .391 shooting from the field, swatted eight shots and held a 44-37 advantage in rebounds. That was par for the course for The Rock as it entered the game as the PSAC's top rebounding team. It was the fifth consecutive win for The Rock and a season-high in points scored.
Compounding problems for Millersville was its inability to connect from three. Ranked fifth in the 18-team PSAC in 3-point field goal percentage entering the game, the Marauders made just 3 of 14. Two of those makes came from Adkison in the final two minutes of the game. Millersville was 1 of 12 prior to those two makes.
Five Marauders finished in double figures with Caden Najdawi's career-high 19 points and 11 rebounds leading the effort.
Marcus Adkison scored 10 of his 15 points in the final five minutes.
Mark Perry added his first career double-double with 14 points and a career-high 13 points.
Slippery Rock led by as many as 19 points in the first half, and extended the lead to as many as 22 before Millersville scored the final nine points of the game. The Marauders' best opportunity for a second-half comeback came when Slippery Rock went a span of 8:20 with just six points. But Millersville could not take advantage, drawing no closer than 12 points (68-56) despite Slippery Rock shooting 3 of 11 from the field, 0 for 4 from the line with five turnovers in that stretch.
Slippery Rock has won six of the last seven against Millersville dating back to 2009-10.
The Marauders are off until Dec. 30 when they host Cheyney.
