
Women's swimming returns home for a tri-meet against Lock Haven and Cedar Crest

ABOUT THE MARAUDERS
• Millersville won one dual at the California Invitational last weekend. The Marauders competed in its first competition since the Relay Carnival. The Millersville swimmers have seen Lock Haven previously this season at the Relay Carnival.
• Senior Emily Fusco won three events in the two-day California Invitational. Fusco collected the victories in the 100-yard and 200-yard backstroke on Saturday and the 100-yard backstroke on Sunday. Fusco earned a qualifying spot in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships from her times of 1:00.01 in the 100 and 2:12.29 in the 200 backstroke. Fusco swam faster on the second day for a time of 59.73.
• In her first career competition, freshman Leah Barrett qualified for PSAC Championships in the 50- and 100-yard freestyles on Friday. Barrett touched the wall at 25.48 in the 50 and a 55.51 in the 100.
• Sophomore Jessica Berry and Mallory Dyson qualified for PSACs in one event each in the California Invitational. Berry got it in the 1,650 freestyle for a time of 19:36.18, two seconds from the PSAC time. Dyson set a time of 25.42 in the 50-yard freestyle.
• This season, eight swimmers have already qualified for the championships
ABOUT THE SERIES
• This is the first time, Millersville and Cedar Crest have met in program history.
• Against Lock Haven, the Marauders have the advantage in the program series, 20-16. Millersville won the past three year in duals against Lock Haven since the 2013-14 season.
• Last season against Lock Haven, Millersville defeated the Bald Eagles, 121-84. Berry claimed victory in the 1,000-yard freestyle in a time of 11:39.66. Fusco had another top finish with wins in the 200-yard freestyle and in the 200-yard backstroke.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
Lock Haven
• After a three week break from competition, the Bald Eagles return to action this weekend. Lock Haven competed in the Wilkes Colonel Sprint Invitational on Oct. 14.
• Lock Haven placed fourth out of five teams in a field that included teams of Lycoming, Juniata, Misericordia and Wilkes-Barre.
• Raechel Rodriquez started her junior campaign by capturing first place in the 50-yard breaststroke with a time of 32.27.
• In the relay races, Carly Ray, Jackie Bingham, Kirsten Pugh and Kandace Loup touched the wall first in the 200-yard freestyle relay competition with a time of 1:55.80.
Cedar Crest
• This is the Falcons' season opener.
• Cedar Crest finished the 2016-17 season with a record of 5-5-1.
• Returning for her senior year, Nithya Lakshminaravanan broke three individual school records in the 1,000-yard freestyle and the 1,650-yard freestyle. She was also on the team who set a NEAC record in the 200-yard medley relay. Lakshminaravanan was also on the Falcons' squad that broke the 400 and 800 yard freestyle relay record in the school history.
• The Falcons are a young team with seven sophomores and freshmen.
