MATCH OVERVIEW
• Millersville finally makes its 2016-17 Pucillo Gymnasium debut Tuesday after spending the first two months of the season on the road. The Marauders are 1-2 in duals, holding a two-point win over Gannon. The Marauders also had a narrow 20-19 loss to now 15th-ranked Seton Hill. Kutztown owns a 2-1 record, owning an 18-16 win over Seton Hill and a 19-18 win over LIU Post. The Golden Bears have not wrestled since Dec. 18. In the 15-team Super Region 1, Kutztown was most recently ranked fifth while Millersville was ranked 10th.
• Tuesday's dual is the first for Millersville interim head coach Chris Yentzer. Yentzer has been with the Marauders as an assistant for three seasons and was a high school coach at Central York before coming to Millersville. He wrestled collegiately at Pitt-Johnstown.
• 149-pound David Charles is coming off a third-place finish at the David H. Lehman Open. He is now a team-leading 12-5 with three tech falls and three falls to his credit. It's been a long road back after missing the 2014-15 and 2015-16 seasons. He went 17-15 as a sophomore in 2013-14. His three tech falls this season are already a career high. Five of his six wins at the David H. Lehman Open came against wrestlers from Division I programs. He was ranked eighth in the latest Super Region 1 rankings while his Kutztown opponent, Chad Haegele, was ranked fourth. Haegele placed fourth at the PSAC Championships.
• 165-pound Shane Ruhnke opened the season with seven consecutive victories and four falls, winning the Washington & Jefferson Invitational. He opened PSAC duals 2-0 as well. But since his loss to Mercyhurst's Francis Mizia, he has lost five in a row. Ending the streak Tuesday won't be easy as he draws T.C. Warner.
• Kutztown boasts three nationally-ranked wrestlers with T.C. Warner holding the highest ranking at No. 5. Warner has bounced from Old Dominion to Bloomsburg to Kutztown and has yet to wrestle a match in 2016-17. 125-pound Austin Petril is ranked 12th in Division II and third in Super Region 1 after placing fifth at the PSAC Championships and second at the ESU Open in November. Heavyweight Ryan Appleby was a national qualifier in 2016 and is ranked No. 2 in Super Region 1. He's 6-5 but finished fifth at the PSAC Championships. 133-pound Ryne Morrison placed third in the PSAC Championships.
• Appleby and Millersville heavyweight David Wuestner should be a competitive match-up. Wuestner is ranked seventh in Super Region 1 and owns 10 victories. The two squared off twice in 2015-16 with Appleby scoring a narrow 4-2 win in the dual and a 5-4 win at the PSAC Championships.
• Wuestner and Appleby isn't the only match-up between familiar foes. At 125 pounds, Camacci and Petril met three times last season. While Petril won all three, all three were decided by two points or less, and the Super Region 1 Championships match ended in sudden victory (8-6). If the Marauders decide to go with Aaron Wildonger at 125 pounds, he wrestled Petril on Saturday in the David H. Lehman Open, falling 10-7.
• Two Marauders--D.J. Mele and Alex Baider--are in the Super Region rankings but Mele last wrestled on Nov. 19 and Baider has yet to make an appearance this season.
• Millersville holds a commanding 31-15-1 lead in the all-time series, but Kutztown has won nine in a row dating to 2005-06. Kutztown has totaled at least 28 points in five consecutive duals.
