East Stroudsburg downs Marauders with record offensive showing

Millersville, Pennsylvania - Cornell Yarde II scored a career-high 24 points but it was not enough for Millersville against East Stroudsburg Friday evening. The Warriors became the first Millersville opponent since 1989 to score 100 points in Pucillo Gymnasium, and in topping the Marauders 119-87 they set a record for the most points scored by a visiting team in the building's 47-year history.

East Stroudsburg (10-3, 8-0 PSAC) stayed unbeaten in the PSAC by shooting 56.3 percent from the field, 40 percent from three and sinking 37-of-38 free throws. ESU has topped 100 points in three consecutive games and in four of the last six. Five Warriors scored in double figures, and the team was led by Rasheed Moore's 22. Moore connected on all 12 of his foul shots.

The Warriors' full-court press got to the Marauders as well. Millersville (5-7, 4-4 PSAC) entered the game as the PSAC leader in turnovers per game at just 10.9. Millersville committed 14 in the first half alone and totaled a season-high 20. Still, Millersville shot 50 percent from the field for the game. Marcus Adkison added 17 points--eight of them from the free throw line. Conrad Chambers scored 11 and Jordan Greene added 10.

Millersville trailed 35-27 following a Greene layup with 6:55 left in the first half. But over the remainder of the half, East Stroudsburg went 9-of-12 from the floor, 5-of-7 from three and turned over the Marauders four times. East Stroudsburg's 29-13 run to close the first half gave it a commanding 64-40 lead. Millersville scored 19 of its first half points at the foul line. Millersville never got closer than 19 the rest of the way.

Millersville travels to Lock Haven on Monday for a PSAC East match-up. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
