GAME OVERVIEW
• Millersville is looking to break out of a five-game skid to teams with a combined 59-15 record. The Marauders face a key match-up against Bloomsburg Saturday as the two teams are a part of a five-way tie for fourth place in the PSAC East. Snapping the streak won't be easy for the Marauders as they are 1-6 on the road and Bloomsburg is 4-2 at home. Bloomsburg started its season 3-5 but have since won five of the last six with a four-point road loss at nationally-ranked Shippensburg as the lone blemish in the streak. The Huskies have scored at least 86 points in four of the last five games. After giving up 310 points in a three-game stretch to Goldey-Beacom, Shippensburg and East Stroudsburg, Millersville has gotten back on track defensively, holding its last two opponents to 72.5 points per game and 8-of-28 (.286) shooting from three. Still, Millersville ranks 14th in the 18-team PSAC in scoring defense and 16th in field goal percentage defense. Bloomsburg ranks seventh in scoring and third in 3-point field goal percentage (.392).
• Once the league's best 3-point shooting team, Millersville has slipped two seventh, now converting 37.8 percent of its attempts. Millersville shot 39.4 percent from three through the first nine games of the season, going 5-4 in that stretch, but has since shot 33.7 percent and is 0-4 in those games. Millersville is 4-1 when making 10 or more threes.
• Rebounding is an issue that must be solved. Millersville has lost the rebounding battle in every game this season and has seven time been out-rebounded by double-digits. Millersville is 3-6 in games in which it allowed at least 40 rebounds. Millersville ranks 18th in the PSAC in every rebounding category (offense, defense and margin). Opponents are averaging 41.6 rebounds per game. Bloomsburg averages 12.4 offensive boards per game.
•
Marcus Adkison scored 21 against No. 12 IUP, giving him 46 points and 10 threes (.500) in his last two games. Adkison has six 20-point games--the most by a Marauder through 14 games since Kelvin Parker's six in his final 14 games in 2014.
• Bloomsburg is one of Millersville's oldest and most competitive rivals. The series started in 1906 and with 184 meetings, Millersville has played only Kutztown (207) and West Chester (197) more times. Aside from a two-season hiatus during World War II, Millersville and Bloomsburg have met at least twice each season since 1931-32 and has played every season since 1927-28. Millersville holds a slight 95-89 lead in the all-time series. Since 2007-08, the teams have evenly split 18 games. Last season, Bloomsburg became the first of the programs to sweep a season series since Millersville did it in 2007-08. Millersville has lost eight consecutive games at Bloomsburg, last winning at Nelson Field House in 2008. On the flipside, Bloomsburg's 2016 win in Pucillo was its first in 15 tries. Three games since 2011 have gone into overtime and two (2011 at Millersville and 2013 at Bloomsburg) went into triple overtime. While the teams have traded wins, the games haven't be particularly close of late. Each of the last five games have been decided by an average of 15.8 points.
SCOUTING BLOOMSBURG
• Bloomsburg has completely turned its season with a recent 5-1 run and is among the hottest teams in the league. Over the last six games, Bloomsburg has outscored its opponents by an average of 14.2 points per game and has shot over 48 perent from the field in all five of the wins.
• Christian Mortellite is among the top scorers in the league, ranking third at 22.1 points per game. He's made a PSAC-high 54 threes and has converted 42.9 percent of his three attempts. He was an All-PSAC East First Team selection last season and was the division player of the week on Nov. 28 of this season.
• Four Huskies are averaging double figures and three players are averaging 4 assists per game. The addition of Yahmir Greenlee has certainly provided a lift. Greenlee missed the team's first nine games but has averaged 16.2 points per game in his last five games, scoring in double figures in all five.
