Slippery Rock, Pa. - Millersville fell on the road to PSAC foe Slippery Rock by a score of 13-9 Saturday.
Sabrina Fusco led the scoring attack for the Marauders and registered her 100th goal of her career with three goals in the game while
Renee Landis and
Bridget Hufnagel each had a pair.
Bryana Weston-Wyatt recorded 13 saves in the loss while facing 30 shots.
Abby Mack added another two assists and now has 59 for her career, two shy of
Hannah Vogel's career record 61.
Fusco got things started for Millersville as she scored five minutes into the game to give the Marauders a 1-0 lead.
Jamie Damirgian netted a second goal just minutes late as Millersville looked primed to take control early but the Rock would respond scoring four straight to take the lead. After Slippery Rock's Jordan Chan received a yellow card, Fusco scored to pull within one goal. The Rock would answer as they did before, scoring the next two and taking a 6-3 lead.
Bridget Hufnagel would score her 47th goal of the season to pull the Marauders to within two but the Rock found the net with 34 seconds remaining in the half to take a 7-4 lead into the break.
Hufnagel led things off in the second half scoring five minutes as Millersville looked to grab the momentum. The two sides then traded goals and with the score 8-6 in favor of the Rock, Slippery Rock scored three straight to extend their lead to 11-6. The Marauders would break their scoring drought when
Taylor Davis found the back of the net with 15 minutes left in the second half. Slippery Rock would halt any momentum Millersville had however, scoring the next two goals and taking a commanding 13-7 lead. The Marauders scored two late but fell eventually 13-9.
Millersville falls to 9-6 (5-5 PSAC) while Slippery Rock improves to 8-6 (3-6 PSAC). The Marauders will return to the field Wednesday for their final home game of 2016 at 4 p.m.
