Softball Splits Doubleheader at Bloomsburg

Bloomsburg, Pa. - Against her alma mater, Jen Probst coached her Marauders to a 1-0 victory in the first half of a doubleheader at Bloomsburg. In the second game, the Marauders were blanked by Mallory Tomaschik, who threw a one-hit shutout and also hit a solo homer en route to a 5-0 victory for Bloomsburg.

In the opener Millersville's Brianna Andraos pitched a shutout, allowing just five hits and walking three. The Marauders jumped out in front on the Huskies in the third inning when Heather Lutz worked a walk and Brittany Smith smashed a two-run homer to give Millersville the lead. In the fifth inning, Bloomsburg had the bases loaded with two outs but Andraos got a ground ball to escape the threat.

In the bottom of the seventh, Bloomsburg threatened as they had go-ahead run at the plate with two outs, but Andraos got another ground out to end the game. Bloomsburg's Sarah Bortner got the loss in game one while Andraos imrpoved to 5-6 on the season with the win.

In the second game, Bloomsburg got on the board in the second inning when Taylor Winkelman doubled to drive in Holly Peacock. Millersville got a leadoff double from Maria Spinosa in the top of the third, but Tomaschik retired the next three batters to keep it a 1-0 game. Bloomsburg was propelled by Emily Mayhew who had two home runs in the Huskies win.
