Women's Swimming Finishes Regular Season at ESU Invitational

East Stroudsburg, Pa. – The Millersville women's swimming team used the East Stroudsburg Invitational as a final tune up before competing in the PSAC Championships beginning Feb. 18. The Marauders had four top-3 finishes and no team scores were kept on Saturday at Koehler Field House.

Freshman Amira Washington won two events at the ESU Invitational and began her day by posting a season best time in the 50-yard freestyle. Washington finished the event in 25.72. She also placed first in the 100-yard freestyle with a recorded time of 55.54, which qualified her for the PSAC Championships.

Megan Hickey raced to a second-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke. The junior touched the final wall with a recorded time of 1:02.43. The mark represented a season best for the West Chester, Pa., native.
The final top-3 finish occurred in the 100-yard butterfly. Jessica Nicolet touched the wall third with a time of 1:04.85.

The Marauders will use the next two weeks to train in preparation for the PSAC Championships in York, Pa. Coach Kyle Almoney's squad will feature several different swimmers competing in the three day event that is set to begin Feb. 18.
