Wrestling's Season Comes to an End at Super Region Championships

Erie, Pa. - The 2015-16 Millersville wrestling season came to an end Saturday at the Super Region 1 Championships. While five Marauders entered the day with a shot at qualifying for nationals, all five came up empty in their bids. Austin Camacci, Alex Baider, Thomas Nulty, D.J. Mele and David Wuestner all competed Saturday after strong showings Friday.
Austin Camacci (125) battled Kutztown's Austin Petril all the way to the end of his consolation round match, going to the sudden victory period where Petril eventually earned an 8-6 decision.
In the 133-pound division, Alex Baider defeated West Liberty's Bryce Humphreys by a 12-8 decision. With the opportunity to advance to the final four and qualify for nationals, Baider fell just shy, losing to Wheeling Jesuit's Nolan Whitely, 14-5.
D.J. Mele (157) began his day by defeating Wheeling Jesuit's Reyse Wallbrown 9-5 before facing off against Pitt-Johnstown's Devin Austin. Austin, the third seed for the 157 pound division earned an 11-2 victory.
Wuestern (285) was eliminated by East Stroudsburg's Tyson Searer by fall.
Millersville finished in 13th place as a team, totaling 25 points.
