Shawn Williams will honored on Senior Day as he averages 16.3 points per game, which ranks seventh best in the PSAC. Williams has scored in double figures a team leading 20 times this season and has done so 33 times during his career for the Black & Gold. The Roberts Vaux product has been known as a proficient 3-point shooter through his career and ranks 15th in the PSAC this season shooting at a 35 percent clip.
• Millersville will look to close out the regular season on a high note after it was officially eliminated from the PSAC Post Season Tournament even after its 77-70 victory over Mansfield on Monday.
• The Marauders rank 16th in the conference in offense (65.5 points per game) and defense (78.8 points allowed per game). The Marauders have shot a league-worst 35.9% from the field and they rank 17th out of 18 schools in rebounding margin (-5.9). Millersville (4-21, 4-17 PSAC) has yet to shoot over 50 percent from the field on the season and have reached 70 points just six times in 25 games this season.
• Last time out, the Ville earned the season sweep over Mansfield topping the Mountaineers 77-70 at Pucillo Gymnasium. Millersville opened on an 8-0 run before the Mountaineers finally got on the board with just over 17 minutes left in the first half. The Marauders went cold from the field over the last five minutes of the half, but still carried a 37-30 lead into the halftime break. The Marauders shot a season-high 37 treys and were able to convert 11 of the shots from downtown. Millersville was led in scoring by
Shawn Williams who poured in 25 points on 7-of-15 shooting from the field. Williams also chipped in five assists, four rebounds and two steals. Guard
Cornell Yarde II finished in double-figures with 20 points and was 3-of-5 from downtown.
• After starting the season 6-3, East Stroudsburg has since been 13-3 to move to 19-6 overall and 15-6 in the PSAC East standings. The Warriors have been a scoring machine, averaging 89.2 points per game - tops in the PSAC - while shooting a league-best 48.9% from the floor. They also lead the conference in scoring margin, outscoring their opponents by an average of 16.8 points per game. East Stroudsburg is fourth in the conference in scoring defense, allowing only 72.4 points per game. ESU is currently slated to be the third seed in the conference tournament and need a victory today and a Kutztown loss to clinch the No. 2 seed. The Warriors use a very balanced scoring attack as 11 players average at least four points per game. Najee Walls has 135 assists in 24 games (5.6 per game) - tops in the PSAC.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT• East Stroudsburg has won three straight outright PSAC East regular season titles (2013-15), and has won or shared the PSAC East title in four of the last six years. Although with one game remaining West Chester has clinched the PSAC East crown, but ESU owns a victory over them two weeks ago. The Warriors have been extremely dominent at home especially under head coach Jeff Wilson (146-54, 70-36 PSAC East). ESU has posted a 83-19 mark at home since 2010 and have been 49-9 since 2013.
• Last time out, freshman guard Nick Giordano scored 20 points, including 19 on 6-for-6 shooting from the three-point line in the first half, and ESU topped the 100-point mark for the seventh time this season with a 107-86 win over Lock Haven. ESU tied a school record for 100-point games in a season, matching the record-setting 2013-14 team that finished 30-2, winning the PSAC championship and reaching the NCAA Division II Atlantic Region final. The Warriors entered as the PSAC leader and 14th in DII with 88.5 points per game. ESU's top three scorers - Moore (13.1 ppg), Nwaniemeka (13.0) and Brown (12.5) combined for 21 points, 18 below their season average, but the Warriors still cruised past the 100-point mark with three double-figure scorers off the bench.
