Ville Downs Bloomsburg to Push Win Streak to Six

Bloomsburg, Pa. - The PSAC's top defense claimed its sixth consecutive victim Wednesday at Bloomsburg. The Millersville women's basketball team, powered by a career-high 20 points from senior Shelby Reimer, rolled to a 64-48 road win.

Winners of six in a row and eight of the last nine, Millersville improved its record to 16-7 overall and 12-7 in league play. Bloomsburg was Millersville's third consecutive opponent and eighth in the last 11 games to score fewer than 60 points. Millersville held Bloomsburg to just 41 points in the January meeting, giving Millersville its first season sweep of the Huskies since 2012.

Millersville trailed the homestanding Huskies 20-15 with four and a half minutes left in the second quarter. To that point, Millersville missed its first six 3-point field goal attempts. That changed in a hurry. With just under three minutes left in the first half, Alex Stam hit the Marauders' first three and gave them a 21-20 lead. Millersville led the rest of he game.

Stam's triple was part of a 20-3 Marauder run that carried through halftime and into the third quarter. Reimer scored two with 43 seconds left in the first half and then drilled back-to-back threes to start the third period. Reimer made three threes in the quarter, and Millersville hit 4-of-5 as a team, totaling 23 points in the 10-minute session.

The Marauders opened the fourth quarter on a 7-1 run that pushed the lead to 17--the largest of the game.

Reimer's 20 points were her most since November 2013, and her eight field goals made marked a career high. She also pulled down seven rebounds--one short of a career high. Aunjel Van Brakle chipped in 10 points, and Yasmin Cooper grabbed 11 rebounds for her second consecutive double-digit rebound performance. The Marauders out-rebounded the Huskies by a 46-29 margin.

Wednesday's game was the final road game of the season for the Marauders. They close the season with three consecutive home games. The Marauders are now guaranteed no lower than a No. 3 seed in the PSAC Tournament. They trailed West Chester by three games with three games remaining. To catch Shippensburg for the No. 2 seed, the Marauders must win out and have Shippensburg lose at least one of its final two games.

The Marauders host West Chester on Saturday at Pucillo Gymnasium. Game time is 1 p.m. As part of the game festivities, Millersville Athletics will host a Make-A-Wish wish reveal for local child, Everest Kennedy.
