PSAC Tournament Central | PSAC Championship History Date: December 10, 2016 Location: Lock Haven University, Lock Haven, Pa. |
• Parity has been fleeting at the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference's Wresting Championships. 2015 champs Edinboro University have won five consecutive championships and own 16 of the last 20 titles. Edinboro currently ranks second in the PSAC with 18 all-time championships, while tournament host Lock Haven is first with 19 titles.
• Bloomsburg University, Clarion University, Edinboro and Lock Haven all represent the PSAC in Division I.
• Four PSAC schools are ranked in the National Wrestling Coaches Association Division II top 25 poll. The University of Pitt-Johnstown ranks third, Mercyhurst University ranks fourth, Seton Hill University ranks 11th, and Shippensburg University ranks 24th.
• The Marauders have finished 12th the last three seasons but enjoyed their highest point total in the three year stretch at last year's PSAC Championships.
• Senior Austin Camacci enters this year's championship with a 3-1 tournament record. Camacci placed second in his weight class at the W&J Invitational. Camacci competed in last season's NCAA Super Region 1 Championships.
• Redshirt senior David Charles has been on a tear this fall, starting 6-2 overall. Charles posted a 3-0 record in duals. Charles returns to the Marauders after a two season hiatus. In the 2013-14 season, he ranked second on the team in total wins.
• Like Charles, redshirt sophomore Shane Ruhnke has started fast with a 7-1 overall record. Ruhnke finished 2-1 in duals and 5-0 in tournaments. Ruhnke finished first at the W&J Invitational. As a freshman, Ruhnke finished with an overall record of 22-12.
• Freshman Trenton Cook has enjoyed a strong start to his fledgling career. Cook has posted a 4-2 overall record whil enjoying a 3-1 tournament record. The freshman finished third at the W&J Invitational.
• Junior David Wuestner has posted a 5-4 overall record, but a 4-2 record in tournaments. Wuestner finished sixth at the W&J Invitational. Wuestner finished second on the team in wins last season.
• The lone Marauder on the roster to place at last season's PSAC Championships is Alex Baider, but he will not be in the lineup this weekend. The last time a Marauder placed higher than fifth at the PSAC Championships came in 2010-11, when Shane Smith was the runner-up at 174 and Mike Greck took third at 141.
• Camacci, Dull and Wuestner all competed in the PSAC Championships last season but did not pick up a win. Camacci is set for his fourth PSAC Championships appearance, and Wuestner is making his third. Ruhnke missed the PSAC Championships in 2014-15. Charles is making his first appearance at the championships since 2013-14 when he went 3-2 at 141 pounds.
