Box Score Baltimore, Maryland - The Millersville men's basketball team raced to an early advantage in Monday evening's exhibition game with Division I Loyola (Md.). And while the Marauders scratched and clawed to the final buzzer, the Greyhounds pulled away for a 79-66 win.

Marcus Adkison scored a game-high 18 points on 8-of-18 shooting and also generated seven steals as part of a Marauders' defense that employed a full-court press for much of the game. Millersville totaled 12 steals and forced the Greyhounds into 22 turnovers. Three other Marauders joined Adkison in double figures. Conrad Chambers hit 3-of-4 threes and finished with 15 points and five assists. Jon Lott added 12 points and Amadou Kaba scored 10.

Using a trapping defense, Millersville and Adkison generated three steals in the game's first five minutes, and Millersville raced to an 8-2 advantage. Back-to-back threes from James Fives quickly erased the deficit. After KaVaughn Scott broke a 15-15 tie with a lay-up, Loyola never trailed again. They led by 12 at the half and pushed the advantage to as many as 23 in the second half.

In the closing minute, Chambers splashed in a three and scored a lay-up, and Adkison added another bucket to to cut the lead to as few as 12 at 76-64. Loyola outscored Millersville by just one (40-39) in the second half.

Despite the 22 turnovers, Loyola shot 50 percent from the field in the first half and 58.1 percent in the second half.

Millersville returns to regular season play this weekend with a home back-to-back against Edinboro on Saturday and Mercyhurst on Sunday.
