East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania - Millersville women's volleyball scored a second set win, but East Stroudsburg closed out the visiting Marauders in four sets, 25-23, 18-25, 25-20, 25-17.
Erin Harman's double-double of 12 kills and 19 digs were not enough for a Marauder club that was denied its third consecutive win. Millersville's record dropped to 4-11 overall and 1-4 in the PSAC while East Stroudsburg improved to 9-9, 1-4 PSAC.
The Marauders nearly opened the match with a first-set win. The Marauders built a 20-14 advantage following an ESU attack error, but a Warrior timeout stopped the Millersville momentum. The Warriors went on a 9-2 run, totaling five kills while Millersville committed four errors.
Kelsi Ceriani evened the set at 23 with a kill, but East Stroudsburg delivered back-to-back kills to end the first set.
The Marauders bounced back in the second and evened the match at 1-1 with a 25-18 set win. With
Katie Laughman serving, the Marauders scored five consecutive points--two coming on Laughman aces--to extend their lead to 16-10. ESU never came within four the rest of the way.
The final two sets belonged to East Stroudsburg. The Warriors led by as many as 11 points in a convincing third set win. The fourth was just as one-sided as the Warriors outscored the Marauders 14-2 after a 3-3 tie. That ESU run included seven kills.
The Warriors controlled the net, totaling 13 blocks and holding Millersville to a .075 hitting percentage. Harman was the lone Marauder to reach double-digit kills and did so for the 13th time in 16 matches. Her 19 digs matched a season-high. Ceriani provided a season-high three service aces.
