Millersville, Pennsylvania - The majority of Millersville's senior-less roster wasn't born the last time Millersville swept Lock Haven in women's volleyball. But on Friday evening, the Marauders snapped a five-match skid against the Bald Eagles and scored its first 3-0 sweep over the PSAC foe since 1995, 25-13, 25-23, 25-20.
Millersville (9-12, 5-5 PSAC) evened its record in PSAC competition and won for the seventh time in nine matches and its fourth in a row. The last Marauders team to win in straight sets against Lock Haven made the program's only NCAA Tournament appearance and won its only conference championship. In the years between 1995-2016, Millersville went just 4-31 against Lock Haven.
Friday's win was powered by
Erin Harman's 16 kills and .239 hitting percentage.
Kelsi Ceriani recorded 10 kills to just two errors, hitting .444.
Grace Dawson provided 39 helpers and two aces.
Millersville rolled to a set one victory by totaling 16 kills to just three errors. Harman and Ceriani both tallied five in the set. Millersville led by as many as eight at 20-18, and led 24-19 before Lock Haven began to chip away. The Bald Eagles scored four consecutive points, using two kills from Jordyn Topping. But Harman sealed the Marauders' 25-23 win with a kill.
With
Renee Drawbaugh serving to start the third, the Marauders scored a 4-0 lead and never trailed throughout. Dawson scored two aces and five digs in the set, while Harman delivered six kills.
Millersville faces a tough test Saturday against PSAC Central-leading Pitt-Johnstown. Match time is 1 p.m.
