Shippensburg, Pennsylvania - Millersville women's volleyball dropped a 3-0 (25-18, 25-16, 25-19) PSAC Central match at Shippensburg Tuesday evening.
Millersville (5-12, 2-5 PSAC) received 13 kills and 11 digs from junior
Erin Harman, but Shippensburg (16-3, 5-2 PSAC), the defending PSAC champs, recorded 42 kills to Millersville's 31 and out-hit the visitors .275 to .132.
Shippensburg controlled all three sets, totaling 17 kills to just four errors in the opening frame.The Marauders trailed by as many as 10 points. In the second set, the Marauders built a 10-6 advantage using kills from
Haley Butler,
Erin Harman and
Brittany Ford and a service ace from
Renee Drawbaugh. But the lead quickly dwindled. Shippensburg nine consecutive points and pulled away for the 25-16 set win.
Millersville committed 10 attack errors in the final set, and Shippensburg needed just nine kills. Harman recorded six of her 13 kills in the third set.
Drawbaugh led Millersville with two aces. Butler totaled seven kills to two errors for a .208 hitting percentage.
Millersville returns to Pucillo Gymnasium Friday for the start of a weekend back-to-back against Cheyney.
