Millersville, Pennsylvania - The Millersville women's volleyball team rolled to a 3-0 sweep against visiting Cheyney Friday evening in Pucillo Gymnasium, 25-7, 25-12, 25-13.
Millersville (6-12, 3-5 PSAC) has now won four of its last six and improved to 43-0 all-time against the Wolves (2-13, 0-8 PSAC). Millersville finished the match with a .304 hitting percentage--its best since the season opener.
Junior
Erin Harman led the Marauders with 13 kills and two aces. She recorded five kills in both the second and third sets.
Haley Butler posted nine kills in 13 swings for a career-high .538 hitting percentage. Setter
Grace Dawson tallied 30 assists, 10 digs, three kills on four attempts, three block assists and a service ace. Freshman
Katie Laughman totaled 19 digs and added a career-high seven assists from her libero position.
The Marauders stormed to a first set win with 13 kills to two errors on 24 attempts (.458).
Renee Drawbaugh served the Marauders to six consecutive points early, building a 9-2 lead. The Marauders continued to increase the advantage until the final point.
Lexy Coldsmith served the Marauders to a 4-0 lead in set two, and Millersville led by as many as 20-5. In one stretch, Harman recorded three kills in five rallies. In the third set, Coldsmith again helped the Marauders to an early lead, serving for seven of the team's first eight points in an 8-0 lead. Dawson closed the match with a kill.
Millersville faces a quick turnaround, hosting PSAC Southeast Division-leading West Chester Saturday at 1 p.m.
