Millersville, Pa – The Millersville wrestling team (2-3) returns home Friday to host fellow PSAC program Gannon at 7 p.m.
The Marauders have not wrestled in Pucillo Gymnaisum since Nov. 23 when they defeated West Liberty by a score of 30-6. The team has been busy, however, competing in the PSAC Championships, the Franklin & Marshall Open, and this past Saturday in a dual against Lake Erie College and Mercyhurst.
Both Lake Erie College and Mercyhurst were nationally ranked (No. 6 and No. 4 as of Saturday), but the Marauders competed hard. Against Lake Erie, Thomas Nulty (7-8) picked up a 9-3 win over the Storm's Alex Benedetti in the 141-pound division. In the heavyweight division, sophomore David Wuestner (7-7) grinded out an impressive 8-6 decision over Lake Erie's Evan Loughman, who was ranked No. 8 nationally in Division II according to Intermatwrestle.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
Gannon enters Friday's match 0-0 having only competed in tournament formats. At the PSAC Championships, the Golden Knights placed sixth out of 12 teams. Gannon has five wrestlers who have already tallied double-digit wins thus far including Lorenzo Maddux (12-7) and Nate Ross (11-4). Maddux will square off against Millersville's Kyle Narber (7-8) in the 184-pound division and Ross will take on Seth Decker (4-11) at 165 pounds. Gannon has not competed since Dec. 12 when it wrestled in the Cleveland State Open.
