Millersville sweeps day one of the Marauder Clash

Millersville, Pa - Millersville women's volleyball came out swinging Friday winning its first two matches of the Marauder Clash. The Marauders did so in dominant fashion without dropping a single set first against Felician College (25-18, 25-23, 25-18) in the afternoon tilt, and later against Virginia Union (25-13, 25-15, 25-18).

Kayla Wallace started her senior season in impressive fashion totaling 21 kills to just four errors while adding six blocks. Freshman Grace Dawson was another standout on day one as she totaled 69 assists in the two matches. Sophomore Erin Harman tallied 20 kills and five service aces. The Marauders were efficient on offense, outhitting their opponents .304 to .021 and doubled them up with 19 service aces against eight.

The Marauders return to the court for another double-dip tomorrow as they take on USciences (10 a.m.), and Ohio Valley (3 p.m.) at Pucillo Gymnasium. 

MILLERSVILLE 3, FELICIAN 0 (Match Higlights)
The underclassmen made their presence felt in the team's first match of the season. Sophomore Kelsi Ceriani had 12 kills while her classmate Erin Harman contributed eight kills and five digs. Millersville built a 11-5 advantage in the first set thanks in part to three kills from Wallace. The Marauders led by at least four the rest of the way.

The second set was closely contested with eight tied scores. After Felician knotted the score at 22-22, Harman and Ceriana recorded back-to-back kills, and Dawson finished the set with one of her own.

The Marauders trailed 14-13 in the third when Harman sent home a kill, took over as server and delivered three service aces in four attempts as the Marauders took control of the set and never looked back, outscoring the Golden Falcons 11-4 the rest of the way. Dawson recorded a match-high 38 assists in the three-set affair.

MILLERSVILLE 3, VIRGINIA UNION 0 (Match Highlights)
It was the veterans turn to make headlines against Virginia Union. Senior libero Brooklyn Smith led a key stretch in the first set taking over as server with the score 12-10. She served for seven straight points in a sequence that included three kills by Harman. Millersville totaled 15 kills to Virginia Union's three in the opening set.

Harman finished wtih 12 kills. Taylor Smith finished the match with four aces while Wallace chipped in with eight kills.
